so, this last weekend i changed my oil pan seal. to my suprise while cleaning the pan out i found small bits of metal in there. im not sure what they are from, but there are a few brass colored pieces that look like they could have been some sort of thik washer (like 3mm thick). there is also some other chunks and more washer type pieces. heres a pic, please tell me what you think.

There is alot of moving metal parts that could have come from. Can you take an up closer pic? Do the shapes look like they'd make out some ring type washer?

i cannot seem to get a better pic because they just come out all blurry. and yes the shapes look like a brass ring type washer thats like 3mm thick.

My running parts car looked like that after I redlined third and floated 2 valves. I found the keepers in the pan from the head along with what I think are turbo internal parts. My turbo has like 1/4" of back and forth play and is hitting the side wall now. Thats my guess.

this is my daily driver. it just had a bad oil leak at the pan gasket. so i replaced the gasket, and found this metal junk in the pan. it runs fine

Man, I changed my oil on saturday and saw a brass type metal piece fall out of my oilpan too, I was like WTF! I though tit was a pick of the oil pickup by then I got paranoid thinking the bearing are comming loose on the crank, but then I dont think the bearings are brass.

ill have to check out my turbo then. but i dont think thats it. it got me thinking that it could be from the last (stock) turbo this car had before i bought it. i knew they blew a turbo becasue there were very fine metal shavings in the intake pipe and in the intercooler.

so that could be it.

but what about this "oil squirter failure" defiant? could you elaborate? if the squirters failed, where did these pieces come from? are they parts of the squirters?

if you still have the pan off take a flashlight and look at the oil squirters. if one is missing you know thats the problem.
