Ok, I saw another post about this exact samething already and I'm guessing this happened to me because I leaned out too, but the last guy had no fuel system though and I do. Walbro 225, 850 injectors, SAFC...... but I dont have an aftermarket FPR. I was boosting about 17psi with my T04E 50 trim with stage 3 wheel when the piston finally blew but I didnt think that was too much boost. My exhaust is 2 1/2 all the way back.

anyone have any ideas?

Photos are at: http://www.rezistance.com/car/talon.htm

any good suggestions on rebuild parts? I'd like to go the 2.4 route but I havnt researched it enough yet to know exactly what I have to swap out.

Well, I would look at a logger to see my knock counts. Pre-ignition and detonation will kill one faster than anything. Anytime you go above stock as far as performance, you need to monitor the activities of the components. If the engine goes lean, this can result in the above disaster.

Yes, you can make it faster and more powerful. There's loads of information in here on that. Just make sure you do it in a way that prevents this from happening again.

Get a logger, make some passes and adjust any items that are out of parameters.

Good Luck

In the photo on your website it looked more like a broken piston then melted, but that might just be the way it shows up on my monitor. It could be a defective piston, was there any sign of other debris in the cylinder? But all it takes is a small hole in a piston to create a big problem.
