Ok so i've done some searching on here and have only found old threads to questions that never really got answered.
I have AGX's all around on my '91 AWD TSi and i'm looking to get the ride a little lower and a little more stiff for auto-x and just DD use. I want to put in some springs that aren't as old as time.
So if anyone has any info on these springs:

Please let me know, i'm not looking to spend a ton of money as I just finished buying a transmission and I have to finish up my built engine.

Thanks,
Brian

Ok well I stepped out into the unknown apparently and got some of these springs, I called Megan Racing and talked with them about these springs and said that with AGX shocks they should be good. For auto-x they said that their coil over package would be better but i'm not super serious about auto-x, i'm mainly looking for some stiffer springs and lowered a bit for better handling/looks, mainly handling.
I shall have them tomorrow and hopefully installed as long as a buddy of mine will loan me his spring compressors.
I have another question which perhaps someone could answer for me.
Since these are lowering springs will I need to compress these before I put them on, or will the be short enough for me to slide the strut bolts through the mount?

Thanks,
Brian

You should not have to compress the new lowering springs to assemble they should be short enough let us know how you like them I too have agx's and would like a lower stance and would like to look at my options

Ok thanks for the input, and i'll post pictures with my update to let you know how things went, i'll probably wait a couple of days though to let the springs set in.

any info of how low they drop? i have been thinking of trying to get a tad lower than my Sportlines(1.8" drop i believe) and really don't have the cash to get some coil-overs. good luck

I had the same combo on my car, the rates on the megan springs are stupid low, and they lower way to much. You'd be better off getting used Eibachs or H&Rs or something.

I had Megans on my AWD and its a 2in drop and I HATED let me say that again HATED them because they are stiff as crap and can not stand to be bounced around. I bottomed out on everything around town. Needless to say I traded them for a stock set.

Oh side note, you WILL NOT have enough camber adjustment in your car to correct the camber, you will have to go aftermarket and buy some new kits. Good luck on the rear, you will have to take your control arms out and I hope you have a blow torch or you have to go through ingalls and spend 200$ which is more than the springs!

Haha, well thanks for giving me that info when I asked for it on the 24th! LOL.
They are only $100 so if it doesn't work out then it doesn't, i'm looking for a stiffer setup so if this is way stiff then that's great.
It'll be interesting to see how far they drop as I have my whole car gutted so it might not drop that much, I also have stock sized tires on my car so bottoming out might not happen.
Megans site reports that the front will lower 2" in the front and 1.8" in the back, this wouldn't be too bad on my car because I have some decent amount of gap.
I talked with the people at Megan and they said that the fronts are 335#'s front and 250# rear.
Just the same though i'll let everyone know what happens, should be interesting.

Ok, just finished installing the springs on my car this weekend, the fronts had to be compressed some but hardly any, rears didn't need compressed for install.
I must say that i'm very pleased with the perfomance of these springs, it's a tad bouncy but I think perhaps with some different shocks that dampen compression as well as rebound would help this.
For cornering they are really nice and way less body roll. It definitely dropped the 2" Megan Racing said they would and I love it, mind you I had a lot of wheel gap before I still have about .5" all the way around which is excellent.
The camber in the back needs adjusted as it's out so yes i'll have to get a kit to adjust camber but I wanted to get a kit regardless of what springs I got.
So I could've got springs that were $300 and then bought ingalls kit which is $220, that equals $520. Or I can keep this Megan springs for $100 and buy the ingalls for $220 and that's only $320 total.
I will be providing pictures of the results tonight hopefully if I can borrow the womans' camera for a moment or two.

EDIT:
Totals above are now cheaper, found this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Inga...004QQitemZ140116248023QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

It's the ingalls kit for $160 shipped.

Just to be clear: all shocks produce forces in both directions. Good shocks damp movement much more during rebound. Soft springs should not be paired with high amounts of compression damping unless the rules under which you race don't allow you to run "real" springs (such as SCCA's Stock category for autocrossing). Compression damping is not how to make the car responsive and/or keep you off the bumpstops. That's a band-aid on a gaping wound.

Not that I have an opinion on this.

Totally correct, actually what I meant was something different from what I wrote, (happens a lot). What I really meant was something that could adjust dampening on both ends. With the agx's I cannot do this, thus I have no control over the minimal bounce I do get.
I'm not hitting bumpstops, not the reason I want better shocks, just wanted better adjustability.

There are no OTS shocks for our cars that have separate adjustments for rebound and compression. There are crappy Asian shocks that adjust both at the same time, there are half-way decent Asian shocks that adjust both at the same time, and there are good European shocks that only adjust rebound; that's it.
