Megan Racing FPR

Well I know Megan Racing isnt the best company out there... But I am looking for GHETTO Fabulous... And the Megan Racing unit looks like its the right price, on addition to that one of our best sponsors Slow Boy Racing carries the FPR so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience or comments about it.

Mike Huml and the group at Slow Boy normally only carry products which are proven... So I want to believe I can get a FPR for 70 bucks... Or should I just buy a Weapon R FPR?

I do not have experience the Megan piece, but my opinion (and probably the consensus on this board) you should not cut costs on fuel, turbo, and engine parts. I would hate to see your FPR raise the pressure less than 1:1 -> go lean -> bits of metal in your oil pan.

There are plenty of places on your car to use "no name"/used parts/DIY parts to save money, but anything that is critical I recommend shelling out a few extra bucks for peace of mind.

Just a caution, take it or leave it.

Megan Racing Is a great company. I used everything they made that fit on my 01 eclipse gt v6 , and I will be doing the same on my dsm.

Megan racing has always givin me very good quality parts, would for sure trust their fpr as I did in my 3g eclipse , worked like a charm.

Try it, you'll may be surprised on how good they perform.

Megan is up and coming company based here in SoCal. Their products are top quality minus the "paying-for-the-name tax." Seriously, their products are comparable to many of the name brands out there.

Im waiting to try thier coilovers.

And no they are not ghetto fabulous. Their products go through R&D like anybody else's and not put together haplessly. Welds are precise, materials are high quality.

Ive been running the mr afpr on my car for about 6mths no. i have had no issues whatsoever. truly does rise at a 1:1 ratio, i checked it on the dyno

I was thinking about picking up the Megan FPR as well. According to the site, however, it doesn't seem like it's a direct fit (since it's universal). I'm assuming that the only missing link to the setup is a fuel rail outlet adapter...am I correct? Anybody have any install pics?

I wonder if Mike or anyone from the SBR team can give us some advice or help with this... I am sure they will sell alot of units for this price if it works well....

And for i1nk83 if you would tell us what you did for fittings it would be great as well...

And I am sick of spending loot on this POS... hahaha I still have a 6bolt rebuild left....

When you got the fpr, did you change over to ss braided lines or just use those crappy silicone hoses they come with? or is this even connections of the fpr to do ss braided lines..

I will try my best to get an install kit for the 1g and 2g together asap for this FPR. Yes, we have used it on a few turbo kits that we have installed and tested here at the shop, and it seems to work just great... even a surprise to some of us, but everything we have got from them (other than WRX header) has exceeded our expectations.

I'm going to call Megan today to find out what size the ports are and if they accept an AN fitting. If so, some XRP fittings will be perfect with some SS braided lines.

Ok so I spoke with Matt L. from Slowboy Racing today about the Megan Racing FPR. He said it's a good unit but said that Megan Racing told him directly that they wouldn't recommend it for a DSMer but for a Honda/Acura application, it's great. Matt said that it will work for the DSM but you'll spend a grip on decent fittings, adapters, & lines to get it to work. Basically, to further assist you in your choice, don't go with Megan nor Weapon R, stick with Aeromotive. I believe Fuel Injector Clinic has a package deal on the web site that is pretty good-check it out. As for me, I'm sticking with stock for now. I've spoken to the guys at FFTEC and they say that the stock FPR is fine. I've always been under the impression that my re-wired Walbro 255LPH will over-run the stock regulator and cause problems but they seem to think otherwise. They have a ton of DSMs over at their shop, and tune them daily so I'll take their advice...for now.

I just order an aeromotive fuel pressure regulator and install kit. I will go with the kit that has proven itself to be the MOST accurate. I havent even bought a fuel pump yet but will be going with a 255 as soon as I sell my turbo.

I love megan racing products, their downpipe and cat-backs are incredible, but lets say it fails.....1-5 years down the raod, then I get a louder exhaust. If my ####ing fuel pressure regulator fails, then I get a new motor for a few grand WTF ...Plus the aeromotive looks so pimp..

Well, as for fittings, SBR stocks a fuel rail adapter that'll just let you use a 6AN line to the regulator, for $25. Popped for an Aeromotive with the install kit from Import Evolution, myself. Hasn't leaked, looks like it works pretty well. Knock at my top end is probably from the stock 450s and 16psi... which will be rectified shortly.

Thats nice... But we are talking about us... not you... we are very happy for you and your needs but doesnt nothing for us. We all know the aeromotive one works but don't want to pay the rediculous price for one and then the install kit when we can possibly buy one that works well and pay half the price for it maybe even less. And SBR is one of the most reliable DSM shops and they say it works well.

So pretty much we don't care if aeromotive works a little better but we are looking for something that works. Which apparently the Megan Racing one does and has rave reviews from several people one including Mike from SBR himself. So we would just like to see a write up on this and what exactly is everything needed. Because the question now is less how it works but more of how to install it.

If anyone wants to do a tech article about this product it would be awesome.

Sounds like its new and Slowboy hasn't tested too many of them and they haven't went through the test of time.

If Megan themselves does not recommend it for dsm's than stay away from it. DSM'ers run high boost = high rail pressure. Those fuel lines look small. Does anyone know the flow capacity of the fpr? Fuel line gets old and weaker with age. I myself run 30lbs of boost at the track, that puts my rail pressure near 75psi, no way will i trust those lines. Braided ss lines or at least aeroquip reinforced rubber line.

Don't take shortcuts on on fuel components under the hood, fire and/or engine hazard. Go with aeromotive.
