So heres the story. Tried three times to order a catback exhaust, each time i ordered it, they e mailed me back within 2 days and told me the exhaust was either backordered or discontinued. So unfortuantlely i got a 3' catback off ebay, i hate to admitt that but its whatever. Well ive had a Megan Racing 3' downpipe and test pipe for about a week now, and its killin me that its just sitting in the box in my room and not installed on my car. My catback was supposed to be here today but apparently it wont be here untill wednesday. Well long story short, i was just curious if there was anyway i could just bolt the stock catback up to my test pipe and downpipe untill my catback get here on wednesday.

Not sure if the flanges will line up correctly as they're going to be bigger on the rest of the exhaust compared to the stock exhaust. I'd say just run the downpipe and test pipe with no catback till it comes in.

Thats what i was thinking about doing buuuuutttt LOL im thinking i might get pulled over, but will the downpipe hanger keep the testpipe and downpipe up? Theres only one hanger and its on the downpipe.

The Megan used to come with adapters to connect to a stock cat or the 3" test pipe so it should bolt up if you got those adapters. I dunno for sure if they still include them or not. As for running no cat back, it really depends on how anal the cops in your town are. If they pull you over just tell them it got snagged on something when you were backing out of somewhere and ripped a whole in it so you took it off while the new one is shipped. They should give a fix it ticket so when you get the new one just go show them you got it fixed and it's all taken care of. And the hanger should hold them up ok but there should be one or two(can't remember) right by the cat/test pipe as, but I may be wrong on that.

If you do decide to just bolt up the downpipe without a cat-back, why do you even need to put the test pipe on? I would think it would be fine either way, but if you don't put the test pipe on, the only difference is like a foot less piping. As far as bolting the aftermarket downpipe up to the stock cat-back; I wouldn't bother. You won't really see any gains, and you would have to go through much more work in the end. Also, if you haven't really checked out your stock exhaust, you'll more then likely find that the stock flanges are too rusted to work well anyway and you'll just want to remove the whole thing at once.

As for being embarrassed for buying a cat-back off ebay; don't be. Many people on here including myself have bought quality cat-backs off ebay. Mine bolted up with no issues, looks great, and sounds even better.

going from bigger to smaller exhaust piping is going to increase backpressure and make the car run worse than stock, either leave it be until you have the exhaust, or run just the downpipe and make sure you have some extra cash to bring the car to an exhaust shop incase it doesnt line up (which is usually but not always the case)
