hey everybody, i'm new to the dsm (and all around tuner) community and have been searching for a new car. I've recently been lookin into a 2g eclipse, but I'm worried about reliability issues. The car will be my daily driver as well as tuner. How much money will have to be put into one of these cars before performance parts to get it running clean? how much of the installations can be done on your own?
i have a few different cars in mind, gsx or gst, integra gsr, celica gst, mazda3
my current car is a 95 vw passat passed down from my parents.

it depends how far you wanna go...find one in good shape and do your research. I made the mistake of getting a fwd. Go for the gsx or dont bother.

If I could afford a 2g GSX or AWD TSi I would have done it because they are just sexy but I am a poor college guy so I bought the 14yr old AWD Laser. Oh well.

Find out the history of the car, when was the last t-belt change, how is the clutch, have there been any major repairs? Just like any car, learn as much as you can before committing(sp?).
