So let me start off with I just put a fresh built bottom end in with a fresh rebuilt head with 4g63 springs and stock 420a cams. Im wondering about how much power can the stock cams support? Im running an 18g turbo and ill soon upgrade to a 35r with some turbo cams but in the meantime I was trying to find out how far the stock cams can go or whats the most power people have made with them?

I put down 340whp on a mustang dyno with a 20g at 23psi a few years ago. Ported head with stock springs and cams. Running a hy35 at 23psi now on the same head. Im sure power could be gained by changing them out but they arent to bad

Has anyone heard of making somewhere in the 400whp range on the stock cams?

This is a situation that no matter what someone ELSE has made you really have no idea how far YOU will be able to push them.

You could make a lot of power on just about any cam, but the truth is they are just holding you back if you are exceeding their capabilities. I honestly believe you'd spend more and put a lot more effort into using the stock ones over proper cams at that level.

However, if you wanted to see how much you could make on them before you upgrade I'd be all for that. It's fun to see how far you can push something before you just can't do more with it.
