MAS IAT Relocation

The stock DSM IAT is located in the MAS which is at the start of the intake tract. Would it not be more accurate to relocate the IAT closer to the intake manifold as the temperature variation btw the MAS and Intake varies widely depending on boost level, turbo/IC efficiency..etc ? Not to mention would provide a much more valuable piece of information for datalogging.

Not to delve into the process/difficulty of relocating the IAT, just trying to determine if it was done successfully, would it have a detrimental impact to the ECUs airflow calculation

it would be more accurate for the air temp going into the engine. but i think that it would screw up the airflow measurement too much. since the ecu needs the air temp at the mas sensor to be able to count the karman vortexes or whatever it does in there. you could always run another air temp sensor at the tb if you want to monitor charge air temps.

Rethinking how the MAS works (measures air replaced in the intake = air consumed by the engine) I'm in agreement.

Since the MAS uses the AirTemp along with Pressure and Karman Vorticies to help calculate airflow at point of entry, re-rerouting the IAT component closer to the manifold would severely skew the airflow readings at the MAS
