2G Marks on timing belt teeth caused from failed auto tensioner?

Hey guys, 6 bolt in a 2g. Noticed markings consistently throughout only the inside of the timing belt. Upon removing timing cover, I found the possible culprit, however the belt would have to be slapping around in order to make contact. The tensioner body seems to have hydraulic oil on it? Everything else is rather clean so I'm assuming failed tensioner? I tried the drill bit method and the 5/32 drill bit will not fit between the tensioner body and arm. However, when putting a sowing needle through the grenade pin hole, it seems to go in and out without resistance. I've read that there's another method where you tension so that the grenade pin can be moved freely. However I am unsure if this method still makes the drill bit test relevant. Can anybody chime in on this? Thanks.

Yes, did you check it? The surface where the plunger hits should be flat but it's common for it to be worn and need welding to fill it or replaced when the timing belt is replaced.

The oil looks to be coming from above the tensioner. You can see how the pivot point for the tensioner arm is coated as well as the tensioner pulley.

I have not checked yet, I'm nervous to disassemble the timing components as I've never done a timing belt on a dsm yet. I know there are plenty of write ups I just want to make sure I'm diagnosing this correctly first. If the scenario you are describing would be the case, wouldn't I not be able to freely insert the pin into the tensioner? Since the plunger would be digging into the tensioner arm?
 
The pin through the plunger could fit but the tensioner arm won't be able to move it's whole range of motion.
The tension on the belt could be fine but limited in it's ability to maintain the tension. At one end of motion the plunger can only extend so far and at the other end of motion the arm will hit the top of the tensioner.

What do you think the belt was hitting?

Ah I understand now, I would think that that little bit of range wouldn't be causing the belt to move that much though no? & I believe it's where the tensioner arm bolts down & theres a plastic washer around it. While the timing belt doesn't hit it sitting, when stretching the timing belt to that point, it lines up perfectly with the marks on the belt. But like I said, the belt would have to have a large range of motion to get there but I don't see where else it could be hitting. I've circled the part I'm describing in the photo attached.

The picture is too dark to see anything. If it's stock Hardware there should be nothing hitting the belt. Can you get a better picture?

I can try more pictures when I get home, however I looked up some generic photos on google to show what part I'm talking about. See attached. The part that is circled im assuming is hitting the belt on the right, as when I move the belt, it lines up perfectly with the marks on the teeth.

That washer should be same diameter as the arm mount. That should not be hitting the belt. What plastic washer?
It looks to be the same diameter, which is why I was saying since everything looks normal the only thing I could think of would be the belt being too loose and making contact when the motor is running? The plastic washer I was referring to was that washer on the arm mount that I circled previously. Sorry for the confusion.
 
There is no plastic washer. That's the part I don't get. There is a metal washer for the bolt on the arm mount. It's the same diameter as the arm essentially.
Right, again I apologize for the confusion. If that's the case, then the "plastic" washer I was referring to is actually the metal washer for the tensioner arm. So this is what I believe is making contact with the timing belt.

I dont see how that is possible.
