So I have a 4g63 (mj1406) engine that I bought for $200$ but I don't know what car it came off is there some way I can look up the block casting number. Also I need to buy the computer for it and was wondering if all 4g63 computers are interchangeable or vehicle specific,

Says 4g63 MJ1406

I looks to be out of a 1g. How many bolt holes in the crank 6 or 7? It also has a nt tb on it, so it may be a nt block. Only difference between a turbo and nt is pisons and nt doesnt have squirters. All 1g ecus are interchangable except a 90 which has some wire switched around. What car are you dropping it in?

It's on an engine stand rite now but it's got 6 evenly spread out holes and 1 rite in between 2 of them
Here's a pic of it and the extra hole i was walking about.

I'm dropping it in a 1971 521 Datsun pickup. Make it a rwd with a 5 speed manual tranny, I got an extra 240Z tranny that I'm trying to fabricate to fit.

Ok you have a 6bolt so that narrows it down to a 90-92 turbo or nt as long as it is out of a Dsm, which I'm pretty sure it is.

That project should be a blast when you get it done.

Honestly the dude I got it from told me it came it of an eagle, then when I give him the money he says it came out a 1996 Plymouth, that's why I'm trying to figure it out... I know on my small block Chevy theres a website I can look up what car it came off from the casting number on the block. An

The guy must have been confused. The Laser was the only Plymouth to have a 4g63, and it stopped production long before 1996. But where it came from doesn't matter much. All that matters is that its a 6-bolt 4g63. Its most likely an NT block, but you would have to look at the pistons or check for oil squirters to be sure. If your just curious as to its origins, it more than likely came from a 90-92 NT DSM.

But like stated above, you could try looking up the VIN. It should be above the flywheel if I'm not mistaken.

Year for a VIN is 10th digit with L=1990, M =91 and N= 92. As far as the make and what it belonged to the second digit is the mfgr P=Plymouth and E= Eagle, anything else should be a Mitsubishi Eclipse, provided it's from a DSM as it appears to be. In the picture of your engine, I've outlined the approximate area of the VIN if it's OE, if it's a replacement one it should be on the back side as pointed out in the service manual. I've never encountered one of these to date though.

NT intake (no port for the recirc valve), NT Oil Filter housing (no provision for a cooler of any sort), NT FPR, NT injectors (pink tops) and a plug in the head where the head would feed the turbo oil. I'd say it's safe to say it's an NT engine. Provided the TB was never changed from a 90 to 91/early 92 that looks to be a post-90 TPS, as the throttle close switch is part of the harness with the TPS and the TPS is also thinner. As well I've provided the link to the VFAQ for the VIN break down on the meat and potatoes parts.

It is a non turbo, it dose have pink injectors. Dose anyone know of a tranny that works to make it a rwd.?
