I bought a boost control to install in my 98 eclipse. I have bypassed and unplugged the wastegate solenoid that is controlled by the car.

My question is correct me if im wrong but shouldnt a manuel boost contral valve when turning for less boost, shouldnt it stop turning?

I installed the controler tonight and bypassed the solenoid ext.. When I was done installing the controler I went for a drive keep in mind I had tried to turn the knob all the way off, but it never stopped turning... Anywho.. when boosted it flys by the 15psi and is burred in the 20mark and I can tell its not even that much boosted yet.. My boost when controlled by the car would stop at 15 psi on the gauge. figured with the controler closed to min it shouldnt go that much further over 15 if it was going to not like 20 and boost weird..

Could this be the controler itself that is bad? As in like statted before shouldnt the knob stop turning when lowering boost..?

Im not actually sure what your asking but the mbc should be unscrewed to allow more air to flow through the vacuum line to "push" open the wastegate.

Correct.. and to close it you turn it the oppisite way and it should bottom out as in not turn any more when you are "closing" the boost?

I have always used a Hallman boost controller. With this type you turn the knob in (clockwise) to increase boost pressure and you turn the knob out (counter-clockwise) to decrease boost pressure. And the knob will just keep coming out until it comes apart if you keep turning it counter-clockwise.;)

I would say you might have it hooked up backwards. You should have your boost source (from turbo compressor housing or j-pipe) coming straight in the end opposite of the knob. The other opening on the side/bottom of the boost controller should go to the wastegate actuator. Try that if it's not already like that and see if that helps. Good luck:thumb:

Yeah I double checked to make sure it was installed right.. and it is... even checked to make sure that the label wasn't wrong about increase and decrease boost.. all correct.. I'm assuming its the controller as if I turn int counter to decrease it never stops turning and the knob is actually kinda loose where I can pull and push the knob..

About to just take it off and hook it back up to stock as it was running fine at 15.. just wanted to run 20 if possible but its not looking that way right now....

It is possible. You get what you pay for. But, you will have people that get on here and say that they have NEVER had a problem with cheapy manual boost controller. I got a bleeder style cheapy MBC from a friend and tried hooking it up. I tried once, and had no desire to try and hook it up. For one, I do not like bleeder style MBC's. Second off, I plan on just buying myself a Hallman. Can't go wrong.

Aye.. Well ill see what I can do about getten a replacment till I am able to get a hallman or even a greddy electronic boost controller.. LOL if all else fails ill just go back to the stock solenoid for now..LOL Thank you all for the info....

If anyone has an old one they dont want let me know.. jk:thumb:
