I was wondering how to disconnect the motors on a spyder top to open it manually. If someone could show a pic maybe? I've never had a soft top before.

Ok so it must be a mechanical thing. There is a link that pulls the second top bow back as it opens. Sometimes these get bent and cause the mechanism to jam.

Here is a pict of the place it bends.

If they are bent you can try to straighten them out. (pull toward the outside of the car) There is someone out there that sells replacements for it.

A while back some seller on eBay was making a kit to fix that problem and it was supposed to be more sturdy but I haven't seen them for a while now. I did save his pictures though so I could try and replicate his kit. It mainly looked the same as stock but had thicker material making up the piece that gets bent. Should easily be able to fabricate one up your self just basing it off of your stock piece.

look inside the drivers side of your trunk. Behind the plastic paneling there is a switch, just switch it to manual and you can open and close it manually.

Not all years have a switch in the trunk I have an 09 and no owners manual. Directions for the 4th Spyder convertible are almost non existent.
