Hey guys, I have both of my convertible top motors out of the car for maintenance, and will be replacing one of the half-moon gears (like a sprocket) that is used to raise the right side as there are a couple teeth rounding over. My question is are there any specific grease points on the motors, or on the top assembly itself I need to make sure I grease before putting them back together. Just looking to take preventative measures and keep everything operating as it should. Thanks!

Absolutely! I will also be doing a step by step thread on how to replace these drive gears/sprockets for any future repair jobs like mine. Thanks again for your help!

Spyder Convertible Top Grease Points and Tips:

We disassembled each motor’s gearbox and cleaned off the old grease and slathered it with wheel bearing grease so that the lube stays in place between uses.

Other than that, we put a light coating of grease on the stamped arm teeth, for where it contacts the motor gear, and put a couple drops of heavy oil on every rivit pivot point of the linkage below the window sill level.

We also put a drop of heavy oil on the upper pivot points, but you have to be careful of future drips until the excess is out.

When you get it all reassembled and lubed, move the trunk switch to manual and check for binding while you slowly open and close the roof a few times.

Removed a top motor due to noises and thought it was time to grease it. What are the greasing points on these tops motors? Pictures should be really helpful

I’m facing the same issue and I don’t know which are the greasing points on the top motor, could you send me pictures of where I should grease it?

I have never done this in mine. Remove the panels and Have someone open and close it while you're back there and listen to where the sound is coming from. Be careful with pinch points

Will still disasemble it and grease it but I don’t know where are the greasing points. Would need someone to show me pictures of it
