Manual rack rebuild parts? Any experience?

Put a manual rack in my car a couple years back - donor had a lot of miles on it.

The rack has 'slop' when turning the wheel from neutral/midline/straight, but only in the middle. If I align the rack so that the car is going straight with the steering wheel offset in one direction, its much less noticeable.

Anyway, these rebuild kits are only seals - is this likely to fix whatever part is worn out (havent taken one apart)? If unlikely, chances of those pieces being interchangeable with the PS racks?

If your burning / loosing fluid then yes, if not then its a jump, could be a possibility.

I don;t have any experience regarding this except i pulled a power rack out of a 1g and replaced it with a manual one...

I was thinking that a seal kit isn;t going to replace the play, but then i happened across this tech article (http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...6-how-remove-rebuild-power-steering-rack.html) and it looks as though it cured the play, so I guess it's really dependent on what seal kit you get to rebuild it...
