hey what up people okay the 420a isn't a paper weight its atleast a hole puncher. okay serious now i've gone through three motors because of me i know. i'm just screwing with you all. hey it was fun though seeing all your responses. I like working on the 420a I like pushing them past there limits to see what i can do with them. right now i'm thinking about investing in one of howell motors race built longblocks. then i was thinking about throwing on a turbo kit but something else besides star or hahn. i was thinking about having a garage around me working on fabricating a greddy t3-t4 hybrid turbo kit. tell me what you think that i should use with this motor. i saw somewhere something about a motor with a supercharger and turbo setup. that kind of caught my eye as well. I love my dsm although i do wish it was awd. but i've had it to long to change it i'm use to it and i'll never get rid not just because i like it alot but i still owe to much on it.

it takes about 4 weeks according to the site. I was thinking about getting a short from slowboy racing and then buying the cylinder head but i saw that howell had a complete long block allready built i figured it be better to buy that.

It takes about 4 months according to some of their customers. :shhh:

You've blown up three motors already, and now you want to drop more money than the car is worth on a fully built Howell longblock and custom turbo "kit." I'll save you some trouble. Just send me a grand and I'll keep it. I mean, if you're throwing away money left and right...

Here's a thought. Get the car running again in stock form and throw all this discretionary income you have for $3000 long blocks and $3000 custom turbo "kits" into paying the car off. Then start playing around with it. Might not sound like a cool idea, but that's because it's what the rest of us would call smart. And we're picking up the fact that you don't like to play that way...

dont you already have a turbo kit from your last motor that your girlfriend decided to turn up the boost instead of the volume?

ehh either way, i think DR is on to something, maybe follow that lead

Good call, and thank you. I like to think I was onto something. :shhh:

the things is that this all happened about 3 months ago and its been sold along with the motor and all other mods i allready had on the car besides my wheels and suspension. so right now motor wise i'm starting from scratch. also i only owe about 4k on the car itself. and as far as throwing away money i don't think so. i have the money to spend because thats what having a couple jobs will do for you.

1) Get it running stock.
2) Pay off all debts / loans on it.
3) Purchase built motor.
4) Wait for it. (At this point you'll be glad you got the car running)
5) It arrives, swap it out for the stocker.
6) Test it.

General plan I would use, especially if I had cash laying around.

seeing as though you already posted on here stating you have currently gone through 3 motors. i figured you might want to look here.

they also felt the same way you did about pushing the 420a maybe you can learn from what they have currently achieved and accomplish something similar, without the cost of going through another sum of motors. so good luck on your escapade and be sure to up date us on your progress. :thumb:

I'm just a wee bit curious, here. Seems to me that, every time my car has gone to hell on me and given me fits, the first thing I do when I get home that night (since I'm not going anywhere) is get online and post about it. Makes me wonder why someone would wait three long months, be in such an optimistic mood, planning to rebuild another 420A regardless, and then make a post like the other one. Just seems kinda, well... it smells like bullshit up in here. Call me crazy, but posts like this make me nuts. It's embarrassing.

Again, fishy. I would think you would unload the wheels and suspension first. Especially the wheels. Wheel styles come and go, and when you figure a new set of 17" rollers can be had for under $800 while a new turbo from Bill still sets you back more than three large, it just doesn't add up.

You owe $4k on the new 2GNT? You still owe $4k on the old one you sold? Wha?

Tell us what you sold the blown-up car for with a stage 2 turbo system and all that, but hung onto the wheels and tired suspension set up. How much did you spend on the three engines you roasted? Okay, I'll give you some credit. How did the first two engines go and what had you done to them? How much money has already gone up in flames with you or your signifigant others at the helm?

Just think! If you figured out how to actually drive, tune and build your car, you might be able to get away with only working one job.

I'm not out to start shit or cause trouble, but, kid, you will be so much better off when you get your feet back on terra firma, here. You can't come into the DSM community, tell us all that an engine is a POS just because you blew three of them up (Hell. Even if you had three different GFs all do the same thing, it's still not the engine's fault.), then turn around and play it off like it's all good because you made even more poor decisions and then brag about having two jobs to pay for mods on a car you sold but still owe money on and not take some heat. That's plain old irresponsible and embarrassing to those of us who research what we do to our cars, drive in a manner that demonstrates responsibility on public roads, and try to keep our cars running strong for as long as possible. Shit like this is no good and pisses a lot of real DSM owners off. Just keep that in mind...
