make your own Pocket Logger Cable ???

You can make your own logger cable, and there are diagrams on the web. Unfortunately, it is not a pin-to-pin conversion. You need a number of other bits... serial converter and so on. Can't just put pin 1 on the diag port to pin 5 on the serial side, and have it work. Otherwise nobody would buy 'em... just make their own if it were that easy.

On the up side, Texas Instuments will send samples of some of the chips you need, provided the right amount of social engineering. Here's a wiring diagram:

Personally, I just laid out the thirty bucks, after getting scammed on one of the eBay $9 specials.
