I also the other day opened up my ecu and found goop all around it pointing to the fact of the ecu has gone bad. But i got a new ecu with dsmlink...... just thought I'd tell you.

Damn, posting times are all mixed up in this thread. Let clear couple things up.

1. 1700 rpm is not proper idle as you put it, it's 750.

2. Dsmlink will not help you with vacuum.

3. How much pressure was the boost gauge showing when you retest after you fixed the three leaks? How long did it hold?

Yes, i know 1700 is not proper idle, i didnt say it was, i just stated thats what it was before because it might help in trying to figure out what is going on. The boost gauge i let it go up to 25psi and it took about 10-15 seconds to drop back down.

You must have more leaks. I don't understand why you went from -21inHG to -10inHG, only a leak can do that. Did you forget to plug in any vacuum lines when you attempt to fix the leaks? BOV, AFPR....etc. Back track everything you have done before and after the vacuum change.

Well, I checked and double checked and I cant find anything. So what I did was turned in the car and let it run for a bit. It eventually worked its way back up to -17. So to see how it would fair with the car in drive I poped it in drive and vacuum went way down ( I realize the vacuum goes down in drive) and nearly stalled. then I put it back in nuetral and the vacuum stayed at a constant -11. Basically the vacuum fluctuates. I heard I should find a smoke machine and smoke out the boost tract and it will show the leaks. Or how much do you think it would cost for and performance shop to find the leaks? Thanks!

I don't know, what DSMer pays a shop to find leaks? :p Are you sure you spray down everything in between the TB and head? I think if you find the reason for your vacuum flutuation, you probably find your original problem. Good luck and keep us posted.

Alright, I was out last night for about 3 hours and i sprayed down every boost tract anf vacuum and i could find anything. So i start looking around at my wire on things. I look over at my intakes MAS and to my suprise there were two wires yanked out of the mas. So i just plugged them back in, started up the car and now i have a perfect -20 to -21 vacuum and a "ok" idle of 1000-1200 (better than before). Thanks alot for your help oldman I cant thank you enough. Thank You!

You realize oldman that just because you're a mod now doesn't mean you're safe from my unending wisecracks...
