does anyone know what size/where to get the plug that goes inside the block that plugs the main oil gallery. Its a shiny silver plug on the back of the block. I custom made a plug cause I wasnt able to find one but I dont want to continue to take the time to custom make plugs everytime I rebuild an engine. Thanks

Just so you know they are not oil gallerys, they are galleys:thumb:

I have several detailed engine books that say gallery. However I have seen several places on the net that refer to it as galley. Most places refer to them as gallery plugs.:thumb:

I thought it was 3/8" NPT as well but under further investigation I found that it was .028" smaller than the 3/8" NPT.

So does anyone know for sure what size the main oil galley plug is? I called a couple stealers and none had any in stock. Mine was taken out when i had the block cleaned. I stripped out the allen head on the plug that was in my old junk engine - was hoping to take it with me to the hardware store to figure out what size to get. i need to find a plug so i can get my car going - hopefully this weekend.

any help would be great thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

Do you know what the length is too? Also, is that a common enough size that the hardware store will carry it or do you know where i can order one from? I tried stopping by autozone and they weren't able to help although at the time i didn't know the size.

Thanks

(edited to fix typo)

brought back from the dead wow. Yeah I was able to locate replacements a while ago through a supplier in Mass. thanks for the info though.
