When I bought my engine the guy said it had a magnus oil cooler adapter. Ok no big deal I would imagine it uses the same filter as stock. Guess what, it doesnt! WTF 1g and 2g oil filter just slips right over the threads on this after market oil cooler.
Grabbed an oil filter I had laying around from a ford and it threads right on, so I look up the thread for that filter and it is 3/4 - 16 opposed to the stock 20mm thread. But that ford filter is too long, it hits on the dp.
So I go down to the auto parts store and see if I can find a filter that has the 3/4-16 thread and is short enough to clear the exhaust. Found a filter that would work but it is only rated to flow 7-9 gallons per minute opposed to the stock 9-11 gpm...
I was iffy about that.
Anyone know if Magnus actually produced an oil cooler at one time, and if it takes a different filter?
Or can I just use that filter that has the right threads but is rated to flow 7-9 gpm?
I even tried to use the stock oil filter housing bolt/adapter but thats not gonna work.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I dont want to pull that adapter off because I already bought the external cooler and lines and mounted it all up.
