Hey guys im doing some research on the maf translator i just bought vs. 2.02 while im waiting on responses. But all the instructions read like a rocket scientist wrote them.I guess im just a hands on guy LOL. So my car is pretty much stock 450cc 16g turbo 3" ic piping so im getting some fuel cut when im at 5500 rpm when ecu advances timing, should i just set all the settings at a base for now go make some pulls. Or should i richen it up? Can someone just tell me which knobs do what???:banghead: like base, wot, mid, aux. It would be great to see a picture instead of some graphs.

Also on a seperate note would you remove the metal honey comb from the inside of the gm maf????

Thanks for the advice, Bryant

there are different debates on the screen, i dont have mine some will say it restricts flow and others will say its a good thing but as to if it is i cant say, as for the maft set all 4 dip switches off and set aux at 2 and base 0 for a stock car

and as for the other 3 idle mid and wot, those are your fuel settings as to clockwise for rich or couter-clockwise for lean.

aux 0
base 2

sorry got a little confused.

Leave the honey comb in it straightens the air.

You need an air fuel ratio gauge, I would not tune blind.
You can do damage if you tune to lean with out knowing it.
With an air fuel gauge it is easy to figure out because you can see the changes as you make them.
I would tune part throttle to 15.9 and full throttle to 11.5.

The honecomb will allow for a better airflow reading. Id leave it in so your ecu is making smoother more accurate adjustments. I took mine out and my ecmlink graphs are a bit bouncy.

Explaination below is purely for relations purposes only. It has no factual numbers contained! Lol, sorry for the band geek pictorial. Its the only thing i could relate it to in my head.

Base is like the octaves in an orchestra. It sets the graph range to send to the ecu. Example: Base=1 is 5-10 (trombone), Base=2 is like 10-15 (trumpet), while Base=3 is 15-20 (flute).

Aux is like the different notes each instrument can play withen Base's range. EX: Base=2 at 10-15 with Aux set at 1 will zero it in on the number 12 in that range.

For the rest its just how much fuel you want to adjust for when tuning by +/- airflow signal.
<--- is leaner in 5% intervals. -----> is richer

IDLE – This 16 position (0-F) dial is used to adjust the airflow signal during engine idle conditions. It can also be used to compensate for modified PCV (crankcase vent) and fuel pressure setups.
MID - This 16 position (0-F) dial is used to adjust the airflow signal during moderate acceleration conditions.
WOT – (WOT=Wide Open Throttle) This 16 position (0-F) dial is used to adjust the airflow signal during heavy acceleration conditions.

Also on a 1g DSM:
Base=2 with Aux=0 will set up for 450cc injectors. For WOT and MID its set at 0 for stock injectors. You will aready be running richer with just the maft installed so you should be good there. DO NOT MAKE ADJUSTMENTS WITHOUT DOING PROPER LOGS BEFOREHAND! This is how i spun my rod bearing and boiled my oil!

As for your switches you should be 1=off 2=off 3=on 4=off. Its basic circuit communication using 1's and 0's to yield a certain output. This configuration means 3"maf, startup enrichment on, read from maf.

Hope my explaination helps a lil. Really the only way to do this is to understand the tables in the instructions. Its rather simple if you take the time to read every work carefully. For injectors just find your cc size in the table and follow the column up a row left to see the # your dial should be set at.

You wanna go into detail about how some fuel settings boiled your oil???
