Has any one had any experience with the oem heavy shift knob mach v sells. I bought one here a while back. All the way tightened down it doesn't sit straight. Its like it was threaded a 1/8 of a turn to much. My friend has the same problem with his that he got. It came in a genuine mitsubishi baggie. But doesn't look identical to my stock one. Anybody had a problem with this or have a fix.
 
Get a lock nut that is the same thread pitch as the shifter. Put the lock nut on first, then the shifter, once you have the shifter aligned the direction you want, screw the luck nut upward onto the shifter.
 
Use some Loc-Tite on the threads at the point you want it to stay. If you use red, it'll stay really well. Give it a day without trying to turn it to cure. Even better if the sun can shine in on it.

That is what I had to do, but good luck getting the shifter off. ROFL
 
I put two washers on the shifter before I screwed the knob on. I had to play around with different thickness washers before I found 2 that worked. Now the shifter gets tighter earlier, so it sits straight. I'm still able to install and remove the knob with ease.
 
Yeah I used loctite red to keep my AMS knob orientated correctly. I have also since taken it off without issues.
 
I don't know how much meat's under the emblem on the knob- be careful in putting something under there to tighten-down on, as it can deform the top if it's thin enough. If it's strong enough, a curl or two of solder would work well.
 
me and my friends have always used the "paper trick" on shift knobs
its simple. just put a thick piece of paper(cut/folded namecard) in the thread and turn until desired. its basically what housegsx said but in detail :rolleyes:
