I have a different goal for my car and maybe you guys can help me out. I want to make a clean, sorta sporty luxury car. I dont need body kits.
I have a 95 2ga. So i am interested in the 97-99 conversion. I was thinking about switching my sport cloth seats with the leather ones. There are somethings i have been looking for. Such as a digital compass. I havent found one yet. Any suggestions to make my car look great. my car is red i was thinking about a nice glossy black.
also dont flame the thread, this is what i want.
So what would you do to complish this goal?

I would...

-Not get leather seats. Go to an upholstery shop and wrap it in longer lasting, better looking vinyl.
-Change your whole interior scheme to all black. And replace some of your dash with wood trim pieces.
-Do the 2GB Conversion. Put a grillcraft grille in there since you don't have an intercooler.
-Get an in-dash DVD player or something fancy that flips. Girls think it's cool...or she was just saying that to take advantage of me.
-Get some 18 inch "chrome" rims".
-And a repaint with a darker hue.

Skip a compass, get a GPS and a screen.

However, first thing would be to pull the door panels and fill them with Great Stuff to try and snub all the damned chintzy creaking.

Aftermarket leather will be better than the stock stuff so that really isn't a dissadvantage that you don't have leather. Put in a nice stereo (if your not modding your car too hard get a really nice one). I hated the orange interior lights so i went with blue LEDs. You could get a dvd player/nav system. Dynomat or whatever sound deading stuff you want to keep it quiet. Get some 16's in rims that don't draw alot of attention. Keep the suspension stock except for sway bars. Or, i've been noticing companies that make springs with more emphasis on ride quality than handling, i don't know if they make em for dsms. I think you would have a pretty nice car. Others may dissagree and think you have to go all out with these cars but i didn't want to on mine. I spend about equally on the exterior, stereo/interior, and performance. My car isn't super fast but ugly or loud but isn't fast enough for most turbo awd owners. I will never find my talon luxiorus because of space and i'm actually getting rid of it but i think you can have a really decent all around car you can drive everyday and not complain. Personally, i felt my car was pretty fast stock compared to what i drove before and handled well enough.

Maybe one of those brushed aluminum dash kits off ebay. I think black leather interior would be a lil more 'luxurious' than the stock grey or cloth.

I do think it's going to be hard to get it 'luxury'. However i think you could jazz up the interior real nice. Look at pics from some newer 'sport coupe' cars. Take tips from them.

A little custom working wouldn't hurt either.

what kinda black should i paint the interior. Flat blackm gloss or metallic. All my trim pieces are metallic black

I wanted to do the same thing but then got sidetracked with repairs. I think it is a great idea but you need a plan to start. Here was mine: Leather seats, All Power, Sunroof, Center console lid, Rearveiw mirror compass and lights, All options, and some other stuff I can't remember right now. DSM's are already a luxury sports car in Full GS trim so it won't take much to get were you want. Also when recovering your seat or doing some other things remember to put in your own touch. My friend just got his seats recovered in leather and put Mitsu symbols on the seat backs. I would like to put something on my roof when I do my headliner.

Metallic black, that's what i did. Smooth out all the texture in the plastic first. make it look like it is totally flat. Looks 100X better.

I never thought about getting my seats reupholstered how much does that stuff cost... in the ball park?

Also do you think black paint is a must in the luxury goal?

about $700 for the leather if you do the install...or figure another $400-$700 if you need an installer.

How does the paint hold up over time? Did you end up taking the whole dash out to paint, or did you leave it in the car?

It's held up for over a year, i didn't do my whole dash. I just did things like my HVAC pannel, my vent pannel with hazards, etc, the one with cruise control, fogs and mirrors. Just acouple of pieces. I didn't want to do my whole interior because i didn't think it would look right. I just wanted some "accents" here and there.

Have the seats done in italian leather with a colored suede in the center. Have the rest of the stuff dyed or wrapped. Put a TV in the car that has navigation capability. I'd say that's luxury sport style. :thumb:

I've had my whole dash painted for over a year now. Has held up fine. The vinyl still bends when pressure is applied to it, and i have had no chipping.

I took my whole dash out to paint it. Although it was a PITA to take out, it was worth it. That way i know i didnt get any overspray on any other parts, and i know i got complete coverage, even on the parts that would be hard to reach from the inside of the car.

Only problem with a black dash is every little speck of dust appears on it. So i have to wipe it down every few days or else it starts to look bad.

a real nice leather with maybe more comfortable/supportive seats? a nice sound system that doesnt sound or look like a kid's car(bose, etc),if you have the money switch out the door panels for either vynal or leather, *real* wood dash or aluminum, and nice thick carpets. deftinalty luxurous

sweet..I've been considering that for awhile as well. I just didn't want grey buttons on black background.

I was hoping to not take out the dash..I have a black dash, but I'm too lazy to swap them out. I've been too busy with my motor.

OK well I have driven a few Audis and I consider them to be pretty luxorious so I will give you a few ideas based off them and then some other ideas:
Exterior:
~2GB conversion w/ GSX spoiler
~Repaint with a more "classy" color like black, silver, or white (black is hard to keep clean)
~Get some nicer rims than the stock ones, nothing too flashy but something unique
~Possibly lower a little bit, DSM's have a good amoutn of wheel gap at stock height
~Tint your windows a reasonable amount (35%) is nice
~Polish up your headlights if they are foggy

Interior:
~I think black on silver looks best for luxurious cars so I say:
~Get black carpeting throughout your entire car
~Get your headliner redone in black
~Get one of the Brushed Aluminim dash kits
~Paint the rest of the dash black
~Replace all the dash and console LED's with a nicer looking color (red looks nice, and is what Audi uses on several models)
~Get seats redone in a black vinyl or leather
~Paint other interior plastic peices to match your dash
~Dye vinyl parts black as well

I.C.E:

~As for your compass idea, you could get a GPS navigation system with a fliout screen in the dash
~Nice quality all-around speakers
~1-2 powerful, but clean subs running off an amp (JL Audio or Alpine are nice)
~DVD player in dash for the flip out screen
~And if you wanted, even a TV tuner

That's what I think would look classy for a DSM, I'm sure there are a few more things but that is a lot for now. :thumb:

That's exactly what I am looking for man, thanks. Im not so sure about the gsx spoiler... its too sporty. I want a good balance.

As crazy as this might sound, my vision for my DSM has always been, classy but modified. Almost over the top, but not quite...

I'm using a stock color scheme, only, over the top. I have always thought, ever since they came out, there was nothing cleaner that would make me stop and stare than a white convertible 97-99 with a tan top. But i love the look of low sideskirts, rear bumpers, and flashy but clean modifications.

So my body is white, like my fav stock color, only modded with alot of pearl and flake. I went with a two color scheme on the door jambs and underhood. I shaved everything that took away from the normal curves of the body. I think classy is all in how you define it.

My favorite color combination is white, black and tan. I plan on doing suede inside once the conversion is complete. I love carbon fiber too. So i incorporated that into my exterior, and i love the look of black rims, but i think theyre classier with a chrome lip, so i plan on that too. 18's so they can tuck a little. Of course, TV's, and PS2 arent nessicary, but add to the upgrades that i think should be on a nice car for cruising around.

The overall vision for my completed project, i cant really describe it, like you, but im always been thinking of having a classy DSM with mods that will make people look twice.
I'm after basically the same thing as you.. good luck

Girls think it's cool...or she was just saying that to take advantage of me.

That was funny .. sorry had to quote it .. he deserved it! .. LOL

Classy huh .. lower it .. bbs style wheels .. with th multiple spokes they always look nice on a 2G .. and i think if its looking right wingless looks real nice on some 2gs..

LOL you douche, you don't have an indash dvd player.

It would be bad ass thought if you covered all the plastic pieces everywhere in either leather or vinyl. I would go black everywhere from the windows down with white accents, like the plastic covers that cover the bolts that hold your seats down or the plastic piece that houses the hatch/gas cap levers. All those little overlooked pieces. I hate the look of those damned plastic pieces everywhere

As for the window up I would go white with black accents. Like white Leather/Vinyl headliner/pillars and the platic housing for the sunroof control would be wrapped in black fabric. I'm sure you getthe idea.

As for the HVAC controls, get the electronic ones with the thouch screen (that myth dreams of getting play for even when he don't have it)

Some racing seats would be nice, but get the ones that don't have the damn company logo at the top. Then some matching harnesses.

Paint the car like Black then have a Candy Dark Red/ Burgandy pained over it. 2gb conversion with the rmdsm lip, I'm kind of partial to wingless dsms and wouldn't put a turbo spoiler on a n/t.

Would it look like crap if i got super dark tint in the back and sides, with 35% on the driver and passenger doors? or keep it all 35?

unless its an SUV, or has 4 doors, you really shoud keep all the tint the same (if the local laws allow you to get away with it.) looks better.
