Everytime someone puts a body kit on an eclipse, a leprichaun eats that "ricer's" soul. So be warned.

But you can put the money to good use by starting out your performance mods with a CAI and a catback.

please dont ever refer someone to andys auto sports.

Whoa whoa whoa. So someone with a nice car that isnt fast is a ricer? I disagree. So a guy with a vented bov on stock mas, his shifter hacked in half, chopped springs, an ebay "turbocharger system", and an electric supercharger at the end of his intake is a performance enthusiast? No, just a cheap imitation. If i make my N/A super clean, with new wheels, new headlights, new paint, etc etc does that make me a ricer? No. I just want a nice DD to drive. If I put a drifter body kit on my car, some super sweet altezzas, 19 inch chrome rims, a wing i can do pullups on and all the "performance mods" listed above, am I a ricer? Undeniably.

Your car looks stock. So I wouldnt say your a ricer. However if you car had all that "performance" stuff done to it I would say you were an idiot.

Anyone that considers putting a huge wing, bodykit, or chrome tail lights on these cars is a ricer. All, ever single one of the body kits I have seem are fugly and overstated. I havent seen a single good set of aftermarket tails for either a 1g or a 2g. Not a single damn one.

Rice=anything done to a car to make it appear/sound faster without actually making it faster

There is a difference between looking faster and looking nice. What looks nice to one person isn't always going to look nice to everyone else though! I think it's safe to say most folk would consider body kits that don't assist in aerodynamics to be pretty ricey....cause honestly most of them look pretty outlandish.

that being said....i've always liked this 2g body kit, pretty much the only one i've ever liked

been good reading everyones post and opinions and you guys are right spending half the money on making my car shine and clean would be better then the bodykits. what can i say im new to eclipses and now i know its better to spend my money on the performance aswell rather then all the appearance show stuff thanks for the help you guys are great thanks again

I'm not saying it's more important to focus on performance. I'm saying a truly clean DSM will always look better than a body-kitted DSM. The car you have is very good at being a daily driver and looking good. If you want more than that, you'll need to look at forced induction or another car.

I agree with this. My car is a N/T, its slow as hell, but it looks good and its a reliable daily driver. I would recomend that you first spend your money on any maintenance that needs to be done. Then do a really nice detail job on it, outside, interior, engine bay, basically everything, a good detail job makes a world of difference. If you need detailing tips check out autogeek.net thats were I learned everything from. Lastly, get yourself a nice looking set of wheels, and maybe lowered suspension and call it a day.

There are SOME body kits that look better than stock but most of you aren't willing to spend 4 grand on just a front bumper so you will never see them. Plus they are also more aerodynamic for whatever you are looking for.

One of my favorite body kits of all time was for the S14 Silvia made by C-West.

This thread reeks of failure. *facepalm*
OP, This is not a great place to get opinions on body kits and such, the majority of the consensus will all say performance is first, if you haven't already noticed.

If you spend half as much on cleaning and detailing your car as you would on a body kit you'll end up with a much nicer car, assuming the paint's good to begin with, and the resale value won't drop like a rice-rock.

Agreed 100% I would make sure the body and structure are sound before you go modding. I am in the process of doing this to my car. Plus, detailing & small body repair is an awesome skill to have. Its also addicting.
