I got the motor tore down, so lucky. Ring landings were destroyed on #1 and #4, no wonder compression was low and it was smoking some.

The reason I said I was lucky is that no pieces came out and the cylinder walls are fine, only need honed. No ridge or grooves. Nice.....

Ok, so I guess I am either going to:

1)buy 2 stock pistons

2)buy a set of 4 2g pistons and fit them to the 1g rods

3)go forged on 1g rods. (not likely because of the money)

Not looking for magic power levels here (350-400 whp) on an e316g, link, and 1000s.

Any advice?

Yeah, E85 is no problem. Station not too far from my house. I dont have the 1000s yet, but shouldn't be long. Im just not sure I want to spend the money on the forged. Law School is pricey :)
 
Ive had 8.5:1 NPR's, on 6-bolt big rods, stock crank hold 450hp all day long.

Just becareful when tuning, those NPR's dont handle heat to well, 11.0afr's on pump, and 12.0 on e85. Good luck
 
1990-92.5 are the same rods. All are 6-bolt. They simply call them 90 big rods to keep it simple. They also call 2G pistons 95 pistons on occasion. I don't know about the quality of the NPR pistons, but stock Mitsu 2G pistons are pretty strong and should easily meet your tuning goals.

If you really want stock parts, but have some extra cash, you can run EVO 8-9 pistons which are forged aluminum. I think DSM Graveyard or someone sells modified parts and combos like this.
 
I dont mind running aftermarket stuff, just always heard that stock 2G pistons are strong. So, for $189 for the set, the NPRs are a good buy if they will hold 400whp.

I saw the evo pistons, still have to bore the rods to 22mm, but I have heard they will handle 500hp in the evos. Just need to set out the budget.

Too bad the daily driver i bought took a crap. Stupid Fords. Talon was supposed to be my DD, now I have 2 daily drivers broken in my garage....
