Just bought this car and it has a header I don't recognize... Never seen one that looks like this. Def custom. Is this the LTH (long tube header) design that the all motor guys are after? I'll get some better pics of under the car here shortly.

You guys must not be very familiar with the 420a headers. This one bolts to the exhaust under the oil pan. I don't know of any header like that. I've owned several obx, Meagan, and headers like the one in the link as well. This doesn't match any of those.
Edit: BTW, in the pic, what looks like a flange at the bottom of the header isn't. It's a couple of clamps for holding the wrap on.

I don't get what the question is though, they look like normal headers that could be fabricated at most any shop. I didn't say it was "stock"... :aha:

I'm just wondering if this is a long tube header design that someone is familiar with. Sorry if I came of rude guys, not my intention. It's def custom made, I'm really just wondering if this is the design that best suits the 420a all motor application like the one Mark Bullett has.

You can take the wrap off to confirm, but I still think it looks like the eBay header in the link I posted. :idontknow:

Def not eBay brand. I had to remove the radiator just to take it off. Would this be a better design than the off the shelf headers?

He didn't mean to remove the header from the vehicle. He meant to remove the heat wrap from the header. To see if a name is stamped on it.

Lol, I know. I am replacing the cylinder head, so I had to remove it. I don't need to remove the wrap, because I am sure it was custom made. The header in his link doesn't look anything like this one... I've owned the one that was in the link. Anyone know if this is a better design? Would this be considered a desirable long tube header for N/A applications?

Yeah, that's more apparent now that you've taken it off the car, but why are you so sure it's custom made? (serious question)

I've just never seen a design like this one, not to mention, I've never heard or seen one that needs the radiator out to remove it. If anyone else has seen one like this, please chime in. I'm mainly wondering if this is a better design than what's available as far as an off shelf aftermarket header.

Measure the length and id of the primary tubes and the collector size. If you don't mind me asking what do you give for this im thinking its going to cost about 350 just in materials to build the one im planing

I'll get some measurements on it in the morning when I get up. I'm thinking it may be a little shorter than ideal and the collector is only 2 inch, so I would def be removing that and replacing it with a larger one if the tubes are the right size. I just measured my DC Sports and the id of the pipe is only 2 inches as well... Not sure how much something like this costs, it came with the car I just bought. I thought it was funny that we were pm'ing each other about getting something setup and then I come across this.... So random LOL. I'll post up all the measurements in the morning. Wouldn't an ideal collector size be 2.5 to 2.75 inches? A LTH is one of the only big things I'm missing... I really wish Mark would get someone to produce these, I would love to have one. Someone needs to make these damn things...

The ideal collector size will vary depending on application. But for an all out drag car like your building 3 inch is what I came up with. This is using the formulas and charts in a book I have. The length of the primarys is dependent on the rpm you should make peak power.
I will build a header soon my younger brother just purchased a Tig. Im planing on building mine so the primary length can be changed with out a lot of effort. This way I will be able to adjust it on the dyno. If you get a different collector go for a meagre collector there's power to be had switching to one.
