I got a 92 laser RS turbo. I was driving down the road and all the sudden I hear a bang in the front and my boost went all the way down. So I pull over while doing so I hear another bang. Look under the hood nothing looks wrong. I just wanted some opinions on what might be wrong before I tear it down to look. Please. Thank you!

Definitely sounds like a coupler popped off. Follow the piping from the compressor outlet elbow underneath the MAF/filter assembly and then to the front of the passenger side wheel well, you will probably want to jack the car up and remove the wheel and splash guards to get a good look at everything under there. Then follow the pipe exiting the intercooler back up into the engine back and to the throttle body. Anywhere there is a clamp, make sure the pipe is on properly and tight. Look for any super obvious holes or gashes in any of the rubber or weaved pipes. Even if you can see something really obvious, best to do a proper boost leak test after to find any other leaks you may be having.

I checked all the piping and it all looks good and connected. The intercooler is all dirty though. The guy I just bought it from didn't have a splash guard on so theirs sand and stuff up in it.

Perform the boost leak test and while the intake is off give your turbo a good look thru. gently spin the compressor wheel and check for shaft play.

Here is a good link on how to build a boost leak tester. There is also a great link off of the vfaq

IC Pipe Tester

Doesn't seem like a situation where your wastegate would be stuck closed. If it was, you would be building too much boost, rather then none at all. It could be a situation where your wastegate is stuck OPEN. Go inspect the wastegate actuator rod, it should be firmly closed, and you shouldn't be able to open it with only your hands. You can also hook a pressure source up to the nipple on the actuator to see how much pressure it takes to open, on a stock 14b it should be around 8-10psi on the spring, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Nah it should start with a boost leak, unless the leak was so huge no air was gettin to the throttle body. The 3 main reasons for a crank no start situation is no fuel, no spark, or low compression. May not exactly be the case here... What was the last thing you did to your car besides check all you IC piping?
