I have just bought a stock 92 Eagle talon Tsi (fwd). I drove it home, and parked it. The next day i did a tranny fluid change with penzoil syncromesh, and oil change with mobile 1 10/30 full synthentic. I was driving when it just shut off. I checked the oil and and it had lost 3 quarts. The oil on the dip stick looked very thin with small bubbles. It started right back up after it died. there is no coolant in oil,or oil in coolant. I then put oil back in and drove home. There is no visible oil leaks. When i start it up the oil pressure gauge goes up almost halfway and then falls back down within 3 seconds, but still no leaking oil. Please help any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well its going somewhere. Youre either losing it or burning it.

Did you figure out why the car just shut off in the first place?

That's normal with the oil pressure gauge as it'll be higher under load, but are you sure you're not leaking oil? Have you let the car sit and seen what leaks out of it? Is your car smoking out the exhaust? Maybe you're losing it out something as simple as your oil filter or drain plug. I'd double or triple check your work on those because sometimes the filter will back off. If your car is smoking that's a different story, but with that significant of oil loss it's got to be something around the filter area or oil pan.

Even under load it stays the same. There is oil underneath but i thought it was from the previous owner and he had maybe fixed the leak since i havent seen any. It doesnt leak when I shut it off,or when its running.I'll try your suggestions and keep you posted. I havent checked for smoke out of the exhaust either. thank you for your help

Have you checked the oil cooler adaptor center bolt. If it starts to come loose it can deop a pan full of oil in no time.

The easy way to check is loosen the filter and try turning the adaptor with your hand.

check if there is any blue smoke from your exhaust, if so you might have bad piston rings that cause oil loss.
