First I don't have a PS belt but the PS is still there. Ok now the problem, the pulley where the PS belt would go, the one that is on the block and not the PS motor, is loose and keeps hitting the T-belt cover. I looked at it and it seems that it has no nut on the bolt that goes to the middle of it and sticks out horizontaly. I just want to make sure that if I put the nut on there it will solve the problem. Also the bolt that adjust it on the top and is verticle is loose and I can pull it up and down. Is that normal?

thanks

Is there a reason why you dont have the power steering belt? And if so why not just take the pulley off the motor?

Never liked the feel of PS, but in order to take out the pulley on the block and the not the motor is anything that I have to do? would it not be balanced no more?

thanks

I don't know for sure. Personally though i see it as just being a pulley, it only turns when there is a belt on it to make it turn, so it would seem to me like it wouldn't effect the motor at all by just removing the pulley from the block.

ok thanks, How would I go about removing it? I'm talking about the pulley that's on the block not the actual PS motor? I know how to take that out.

thanks

The power steering pulley is attached to the water pump and there is actually 2 pullies bolted together. The inner and smaller one is for the power steering and the outer and larger one is what the alternator belt is on that is also over the crank pulley. There should be 4 small bolts that connect both of those pullies to the water pump. And there is no vertical adjustment for the power steering pulley. The only thing i can think of in that general area is the a/c tensioner. The A/C compressor is behind the motor on the driver's side. The tensioner has a vertical bolt through it that is used to adjust the tension on in. Some pics would really help us know what your talking about.

I'm sorry, you are right it's the ac tensioner pulley, the one where the belt goes through that has the tensioner on top. That's the one that loose, and rattles against T-belt cover, any ideas on how to remove it?

thanks for the clear up:thumb:

You're welcome. There is 3 bolts that hold that bracket on. Two right next to each other just above the A/C compressor and 1 right beside the water pump pulley. They are all 12mm bolts. Remove them and it will fall right off.

Yeah if it the belt is off there is no point having it on there since it's not actually tensioning anything.

kind of off topic and kind of not...is it even worth removing the A/C to gain the extra power and weight?
I'm kind of tossing it up in the air but i lived in texas without A/C and it sucked. I also dont want my girl not wanting to ride with me because of it.
