Okay guys.. I've looked and done research for this, but I can't find one with a problem like this one.. And this isn't my account, this is a friends account.
I'm looking to buy a DSM, but the one that I found on a dealer lot has transmission problems. The guy from the lot called and asked if I was interested, and honestly, I am, but the car has to be reliable enough for me to go to school on, and a transmisson problem is far from reliable.
Anyway, on to the question.. the guy said it's a 98 GST, with a fully rebuilt motor and they want 8900 for it. He said the thing wrong is that it has pop-out problems with 4th and 5th gear. I done reasearch and it's usually with 3, 5, reverse, or 3 and 4th, but from what I gathered 5th gear pop out is not fairly common. I really want the car, and haven't drove it yet, so I can't be that much help, but I can tell you waht the dealer told me. He said that it pops out of gear under high boost, higher up in the RPMs. He also said it could take 1-2k to get it fixed because they don't know what the problem is.. so I come to you guys.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be? And if it would be worth the trouble to drive 2 hours to go and look at it? Thanks for any help you guys can give me, I don't want to get my hopes up for nothing.
