I have a 99 Eclipse RS that I have turned into a race car at the local dirt track in the Stinger division. 3 races under my belt now first and third race's coming out of turn 1 into 2 or coming out of Turn 3 into 4 starts skipping and sputtering losing power. power does not come back until quarter way down the straightaway front and back. new distributor wires plugs cam sensor unable to drive on the streets is no longer street legal any help would be appreciated

How do you have your fuel cell baffling and pickup placed? Are you running a surge tank? Or are you running the stock tank and pickup assembly? You could try a clunk in the tank or a hydramat. You could easily be cavitating the fuel pump.

I thought about that as well. We are not allowed to run fuel cells has to be stock style fuel system I had less gas in Race 2 then I did in race 1 or 3 and did not have the problem in Race 2. Is there a baffle I can install in a factory fuel tank?

Well, if you are running a stock tank, you could try a clunk or a hydramat then. The stock tank completely sucks. You could make baffling for it.

Are you going fast and turning right or going fast and turning left? (being honest, not funny; fuel pump pickup is on right side of tank)

Can you run an external fuel pump or a surge tank?

If you could run an external fuel pump then you can simply run 2 clunks with some gates 27093 5/16" hose and a couple aluminum or brass clunks. OR run a Holley Hydramat fuel pickup. The clunks are cheaper, and you can get a Walbro 255HP GSL392 external pump for cheap. Or make a surge tank.

I am topped out in 2nd automatic and turning left tap brakes just before the corner to slide rear end out and then back on throttle full pulling through corner. So that should be throwing all the fuel to the passenger side of the car I need to check the rule books to see if I can run an external fuel pump I do not think that I'm able to.

Ok, it still sounds like maybe it is a slosh issue though. Take a look at the rule book to see if you can run a surge tank or an external electric pump.

Also check grounds to block and head. I have had weird issues and power loss from grounding issues on cars. I had a ground strap break on my gen1 neon and the head wasnt grounded well.. so much resistance it was causing sensors to freak out.

I have had grounding issues on cars before that was one of the first things I checked I even added an extra ground strap. But thank you for your input. All help and advice is welcome.

It is not the tank, fule pump or filter. This last race about 11 laps in it started spitting sputtering and cutting out almost did not complete the race. I have replaced the camshaft sensor could the crankshaft sensor be faulty when the car gets hot and cause this issue?

I don't see why you would have issues with a crank sensor as temperature increases. Are you sure it isn't a fuel pump that is getting overloaded and not working optimally? Have you already rewired the fuel pump assembly with better wiring?

I had a buddies 98 gs spit and sputter, then it started dying all together. Turned out the CKP was getting oil inside the housing once it warmed up, then once we let it sit and cool it would work fine for a bit.
