Ok, ill agree that I havent researched much about the parts that I am trying to get for my car. I dont know much about cars and I am hoping that maybe some of you guys might be able to help me out and give me a little advice. My car is a 96 Eclipse GS and I live in CA.

Cold Air Intake - Im going for an AEM V2 intake. AEM because they are smog legal and the V2 because it isnt much more than the older version.

thottle body - Read that CAI arent all that great because the TB is restricting the air. should i get a bigger one?

Cat - Are high flow cats smog legal?

Cat-back exhaust - A while ago I was interested in the Apex N1. Im looking for something with a low rumble. I hate the high pinging noise alot of hondas have. Since I am a non-turbo, want is a good size piping, 2.5"?

Coilovers - I bought some coilovers a little while back but I havent had a chance to get them installed. I was told that I may need to replace the shock/struts to put the coilovers on, is this true? Also, I heard of a module or something that lets you adjust your coilover heigth from inside the car, true?

Well there are my inqueries. Any info and help is much appreciated and if anyone could provide links to where I could research these things better, Id love you forever!!

CAI and TB are good mods, the high flow cat will probably be illegal in CA, not sure though, cause I live in IN(and did away with mine :p ). As far as the catback exhaust 2.5 is perfect and sounds nice, I'm running a full HP racing catback+header(2.5" piping) and it sounds awsome. I noticed you didn't mention a head though? they're fairly cheap and really complete the HP potential as far as the exhaust goes, but again it may be illegal in CA so you might want to avoid it(not sure if it is or isn't).
As far as coilovers you don't "have" to replace the struts but I would highly recommend it due to the factory strut's rebound rate, it's only designed for the factory spring. tockico's are cheap and will be a sound investment + save you trouble in the future. You also might want to get a camber correction kit unless you get tires for free
Lastly the module you're talking about, I've never heard of one to adjust the struts, but tein has something like that for their coilover setup, that can adjust the stiffness of the struts form inside the car but it runs about 250 plus the 750 for their coilover setup(if you're going to spend the money I'd stick with the components that are made to work together instead of mix matching)

Just my 2 cents, I know others will disagree with some of my comments/opinions

for the TB.. where can i go to get one? should i buy it or get it bored to size? if so.. what size? hehe

I know he meant to say header. You are relatively fresh so I don't want you to be confused. I don't want to speak for GotSome-Turbo but he is probably talking about having full flow through your exhaust. If you do those other changes, your exhaust mani will be your "weak link" in the air flow. Correct me if I'm misrepresenting you GotSome-Turbo :thumb:

well.. actually.. i already have a header.. its already installed and what not.. some generic header..

After those things you can get a Underdrive Pulley. This pulley will help to lighten up the rotating mass at the end of the crankshaft as well as make it work less to turn all of the accessory belts. I got mine from Ebay(OBX $60 shipped) , and it is a 30% underdrive and only weighed like a pound or less. I got it installed at a local shop for fifty bucks and I love it. It never squeals like some people say theirs do. So all together I paid $110 while some people pay $130 for just the same exact pulley with a name brand on it. After this mod the car feels like it is straining less to get through the whole RPM range. This is a must!! Good luck on modding your car!! :thumb:

Most people keep telling me to stay away from an underdrive pully, as it can lead to failure of the battery recharging and alternator ect. I was wondering how the voltage is on the cars with underdrive pulleys. I also use my stero 1 12" sub and Mtx amp, and I plan on getting the AVC N1 or N2 from pioneer (DVD/Navigation in dash scree). Will I have a problem with voltage?

If you have a system and/or going to add screens and more eclectronics I would not reccomend it. I have the UDP and a slightly smaller alternator pulley and when I had a Punch HX2 12" with a Pioneer 760 amp, the battery light would constantly stay on if I pushed it hard.

if you have the money get the modernperformance tb. im gonna order one tomarrow. but atleast port match the intake manifold to the tb, and if you have time then port and polish the whole thing.

Just installed this exact set up two weekends ago and wow what a difference. Having never worked on struts/springs before it was actually quite simple to install. Car looks good dropped w/ the 18's but I'm shopping for some lightweight 17's.

so we can fit 18s? We just have to get some really small tires?

I bought the exhaust last week and i will be getting it put on soon.

I think the next item i am going to get is the halo projector head lights..

Im sooo glad im working on my car again!!
