Anyone else having a hard time finding a body shop that knows what to do with these cars?

I'm in the Bay Area.
I need to find someone who keeps to schedule, and budget, and has exceptional skill and experience with restoration.

Suggestions appreciated.

And a unicorn for a mascot. That’s all for now.

No seriously- I really can’t find a shop that WANTS to do body work. They are all gone or something.

Ok, I found a shop to take care of the body restoration:
RCC - Reliance Collision Center
540 Parrott St
San Jose, CA 95112
(408) 282-0280

Stay tuned for progress pictures over the next couple months - and decide for yourself.

I’ll get the initial “before” pictures posted. Lots of work for them. I will have a list of parts to find before they finish, and some of these things are way difficult to locate.

Ouch - this is the worst rust spot on the car.

Lot easier to see the bigger side mount IC without the bumper.

Windows out = you’re going all out and the correct way. I’ve worked at a handful of dealerships for years and never really saw “great” outcomes from all the body shops. Some were okay at best and majority sucked, royally. It’s really hard to find body shops that turn out “like factory”. That are out there but hard to find. Not to mention they also charge a lot. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

I got the chance to see it in person, and it is really quality work. Tracy said there is more wet sand and clear yet to go. I wish I had grabbed a shot of the Logan Silver Metallic on the side skirt, It looks much better than I remember it.

What are you going to do about the discontinued moldings? Use the old ones?
Welcome to my current issue.

I’m working with Rich Howell who is experimenting with different restoration methods, which vary depending on the condition of the moldings. It is a constant pain point for us all. Everyone is talking about drip moldings, but there is work needed on the belt moldings too.

When Rich gets some results, I’ll show off his work. Couple more weeks I expect.

If ANYONE has belt, drip, or glass holder parts for sale, please let me know.

Justin
