Looking for a "cheap" torque converter

I am looking for a torque converter that is a step or two up from the stock 1G auto torque converter. I have done alot of searching but have only been able to find IPT's high stall torque conveter that was under a grand.

I would like to find something even cheaper. The one in my trans right now is shot and I am running pretty stock. She is my DD, not a race car. This is the second torque converter that has gone bad in my Talon in the last 5 years so I would really like to upgrade from the stock converter.

An "upgrade" from stock is a restalled stocker. If you want any more than that it's going to cost you. Maybe find out why you're eating torque converters?

I am thinking it may just be the seal. I bought the car off my now girl friend. About 8 years ago, her father fixed the problem I have now. I am trying to get info out of him through her so but I guess he replaced a seal on the "spool". So that would mean he replaced the torque converter seal I am guessing.

Maybe he never had to replace the converter. Just the seal.

But anyway, you answered my question.

A re stalled stock converter is for performance only. Its not going to last any longer than a normal torque converter. So if you want performance you can grab one, but otherwise the "strength" isn't going to be any different than stock.
