Hey guys I'm not new here, just couldn't remember my name, password or email LOL. It's been a while since I've been on here. Since then I've sold both my 2g's and not have a 350z. I miss having a eclipse. I found a 90 gsx for sale close to me that looks nice. Was wondering what I should look for though when I go to look at it. Here's what his ad says:
142000 miles.

3" stainless downpipe back including muffler
16g turbo
Air intake tweaks
Tires & rims.

This car has always been professionally serviced. I have a file with all maintenance records. I'm the 2nd owner. It's always been garaged and NEVER SEEN SNOW.

It's lived under a car cover for the last 4.5 years. I installed a new battery and it starts right up.

Any car that has sat for that many years should have the fuel system checked for rust and old gas purged. Gasoline turns to varnish when it gets old and gums up the fuel system. Change all the fluids. Check for proper brake and clutch function. I've had a master cyl leak all the fluid out shortly after reviving a car that sat for years.

Thank for pointing that out, I noticed it said it lived under a car cover but I'm not sure if he means that by he always had it covered in the garage or if it's literally sat for 4.5 years. I'll be sure to ask him.

Another thing you might want to watch out for is bugs. I bought a car that sat outside for 5 years without moving. It had wasp nests in both door jambs. Opened the door and got in to look around and the wasps started buzzing. Brake cleaner kills them instantly.

He said he always kept it in the garage so I dont think I need to worry about bees "hopefully". I'm waiting for him to call me back. Are these known to get crank walk like the 2gs?

Being a 90 it should have a 6-bolt engine. The 7-bolts were the ones that were known for crankwalking. With the 6-bolts it's not as common for crankwalk to happen, but it's not impossible.

I see the car on craigslist... :hmm: A bit high on the price for what it is I think, but not bad. I don't think that's a 16g on there, but it's almost impossible to tell from the pictures. Just looks pretty stock all over (which isn't a bad thing). I'd say it's a stock 14b turbo though.

Yeah that's what I had thought too just wanted to clear that up. I'm mainly only looking at it for a winter car/ toy since I store my Z during the winter. That and to teach my girl how to drive stick. Clutchs are a lot cheaper for the DSM's then they are for my Z LOL
