Hello, I’m very new to DSM and car culture in general. I’ve always been fond of the 2g eclipse and recently found one for sale by me for $900. The car has 195k miles and is going to need some work (brakes, bumper, A/C, possible clutch). I’m willing to put some money into it to make it what I want, but I’m wondering if it’s worth investing in a car with such high miles? Thank you

Understood. It originally had the turbo but do you think it was removed? Some lady was using this as her grocery getter.

Someone may have had a turbo on the 420a, but it's gone now and I see zero evidence of it's existence. Frankly that thing is bound for the scrap heap, after looking again there's a massive hole in the passenger strut towers, not just starting rust. It's not even road safe.

Thanks for the help. It would probably be way too much for my insurance anyway so I’ll just steer clear. Sucks to live in Wisconsin, even my 2009 galant has bad rust.

Yea that is killer over there. If you want to get into a non-rust body, best to look in the southwest or west coast, then factor in travel costs. It may cost more but you'll get a much more for the money.

If you can find one that isn't completely rusted out, light surface stuff can be fixed, but 2gs are notorious for bad rust, being in Wisconsin can't help that much unfortunately.

That’s a good idea. On top of high insurance costs I think I’ll just need to wait to get my first DSM. Thank you so much for your help!

I honestly wouldn't buy it. If I were you look into finding a GS-T or a GSX you won't regret it in the long run. Also try to find a shell that doesn't have rust cause all that just becomes a big headache.
