hey,
my car is running OK but i think [probably know] i'm running rich any other problems might be present? i dont have much info because i only looked at it on the way to class today. so here goes:

timing advance at idle [ ~800 rpms] is anywhere from 20-24 %

this is a 2nd gear WOT pull [12.5 psi]
9% timing advance
.90-.94 volts

the volts are high so i know that im running rich.. oh yea, i have a CEL on saying "mass air sensor grounding circuit" what does that mean???

mods:
evo iii b16g
2.5"o2/dp/tp
3" exhaust
injen intake
MBC
walbro 190 pump

Your timing is low, so you are probably seeing a fair amount of knock. You want it to reach 18 or so. If you could post up your entire log I could tell you more.

i would love to but i have no idea how to use a logger. i dont know what software it is either [ my friends logger ] . it has 2 options.. and 1 being a dyno scan.??

what other factors do you need?

Bring your timimg to 18-22. Your running a bit rich bud.

Try doing some pulls in third, thats your best bet.

O2's should be .90, but tuning by that is crap. All I use is knock and timing.

i would love to tune the car, but i have no SAFC yet  that's next up. but for now, am i hurting the car in a way that it would be permanent?

but in the future, how should i tune the SAFC to get better timing advance? more fuel? leaner? i have no idea.. so n00bie to tuning

1gen o2 values are much different from 2g o2 values. .90volts for a first gen might be rich, but .90 for a second gen, I would consider that lean.

For a 2g car, I would shoot for .94 volts on the o2, and in a 3rd gear pull, you want timing to dip to about 8deg when boost hits, and then alway advance, never dip, all the way up to 17 or 18degs at the top of the gear. That will still only get you in the ball park. I'm giving up on 2g pocketlogger tuning and just got a wideband!:D

I would suggust that you get some sort of fuel control (safc), and you read about tuning, what makes you lean, rich, what timing advance should look like. And learn how to you the logger and its software on the pc to look at logs. You've got some big steps to take....good luck...
