Logger always accurate?

I just did a fmic install and bought a logger along with it so I could start monitoring temps, knock, etc. I installed a 14" slimline fan to help keep temps down, but according to my logger it doesn't come on untill about 206 degrees, once it does it will drop temps back down to about 203* or so, but my question is I thought that the fans were supposed to kick on at 196* on a 1g? I have the fan wired up exactly like stock and I'm just wondering if maybe my logger is reading about 10* hotter than what I'm really seeing. Thanks.

On a 1G, keep in mind that there is a couple of feet between the thermoswitch in the bottom of the radiator controlling the fans and the ECT sensor in the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing is on the hot side of the radiator and the the bottom of the radiator where the fan switch is the "cool" side.

None of these sensors are calibrated so they aren't accurate but they are consistant.

Hmm, didn't think about that. Does make alot of sense though. Would it be a good idea to get a fan controller then? Right now, at cruise I see temps from my logger around 199-203 and at idle from 203-209. Usually doesn't get above 209, especially with the new 14" though. I would just like temps a little lower.

You can't go a whole lot lower. The ECU doesn't start updating the long term fuel trims until the ECT goes over 186F
