I was going to change my rear turn signal bulbs yesterday because they are almost impossible to see. So, i thought changing them would help. But what i found back there was not what i expected.
There is a H4 headlight bulb connected to my turn signal(both), taped all around and just hanging back there.. The tape is all melted around the bulb.
Then i wonder.. Is this normal?? I have already guessed that it should not be back there. Why would anyone wire a headlight bulb to a turnsignal?

And my right turn signals blinks at double speed than it should. I have changed bulbs but it did not help..

Someone has done a bad job with this car... And that's not me!

EDIT: More problems....
I bought the Sonar Projector HALO headlights a while back.
These lights does NOT have a "light image" at all.. (In lack of a proper word i call it "light image")

These lights has a good light image: (borrowed from club3g.com)

Mine just light up a oval area in front of the car.
And i cant figure out what bulbs to use..

I hope someone can help me out with these issues...
Thanks!

Most aftermarket projectors have terrible light dispersion qualities. I've seen a few lucky individuals who somehow found not-too-bad projectors and used HID kits to counteract the projectors' poor quality. That route is illegal in the US , though, and doesn't guarantee good results by any means. I don't know what the laws are like in Norway, but if they're anything like most EU member nations' laws, I'm sure they're similar to the US's in this respect.

You can retrofit aftermarket projectors with real HID projectors from a car that had them from the factory. There are a few tech articles about accomplishing this feat. While still technically illegal, using OEM HID projectors is "less" illegal as these units are certified and will output the light in a controllable manner.

Personally, I don't like the way projectors look on DSM's. I'm quite satisfied with 2Gb headlights and Sylvania SilverStar 9005/9006 bulbs.

I'm moving this thread to the Appearance/Interior/Exterior forums.

If its blinking fast that usually means you have a bulb out.And its not normal to have a h4 headlight/foglight for a turn signal... Are both sides like this?

Yeah there are almost the same rules and regulations in regards to lighting here in Norway, but there is a loophole that says i can use the headlights since the car is imported.

I have figured out why the light dispersion is so bad...
I have wired the lights wrong, so the highbeam is wired to driving lights. :ohdamn:
Which is stupid, I know............

Have you heard of anyone wiring up some H4's to their blinkers and not even using them?

Yes there were H4 bulbs wired up on both sides. In addition to the normal bulbs though. The H4 ones were just hanging down inside of the plastic.

My guess is that at some point someone installed LED tail light bulbs in the rear and that causes hyper-blinking since the OEM blinker box would see less load than it used to (LEDs pull much less current). The blinker box is designed to flash faster if one bulb is out.

When someone has installed LEDs tail light bulbs a common way for them to stop this problem is to put a similar load back into the system, thus restoring the original load and blink rate. That load can be simulated with a ballast resistor ($5) or an old bulb they had laying around (free). Someone chose the free route.
