Well I put a new head on my new purchased 90 Talon TSI because the valve seals were shot. Finally got the car all put back together and the last thing I did before I started it was change the oil. Apparently I was rushing and didnt notice the oil filter gasket from the old filter stayed on the car so I double gasketed it. Well we started the car and it sounded like I had a really bad lifter tap. Is it possible that I wasn't getting enough oil pressure or oil in general and this would of caused the lifter tap? Luckily the car only ran for a few seconds when we noticed the oil coming out of the filter. Today my plans are to go get moer oil and fix the filter issue. Just wondering if my tapping could be from lack of oil? Someone please help............:dsm:

Im really hoping so. I would of changed it out last night but I didnt have enough oil in the garage plus the oil was all over the floor. Plus my ego was hurting a little. :coy:

Its hilarious when you work in an oil change shop and your older co-workers double gasket stuff :tease:

Anyway, it probably was from the lack of oil. I have heard of some fresh rebuilt heads ticking though. I hope it works out for you!

You still would get some pretty good oil pressure. It will take a second either way for the oil to reach the head... The car will have to be reved up alittle to get the oil pressure up to get to the head... It should be ok after you let it get warm.

Give it some time to break in and if it doesn't go away look for a collapsed lifter or a "stuck" lifter.

if its the lifters, before taking anything apart you should running like 3 liters of oil and 1 liter of transmission fluid to try and clean up the lifters for about 20 minutes then put fresh oil and run it see if that works for you
