Tried searching for similar problem but couldn't find it. This is what happened. I have the launch rpms set at 4700 from dsmlink. Launches great but today I let off the clutch slower than usual, the rpms shot to redline and immediately it smelled like burnt clutch, the clutch pedal got hard and the engagment keeps rising to the top. I still drove it home for 10 miles and I didn't hear any unusuall noises from tranny or clutch area. Its a new exedy street/performance clutch too. Only has about 3k on it. I can't seem to figure it out. Anyone have any ideas? I was told by a friend that has done this many times in his other track cars but none of them were dsm's and he said that I over torqued the clutch and it added pressure, and to just let it sit for a day and then it'll go back to normal. I just want to see what everyone input is on this subject. Thanks

sometimes i get the same problem with my 97 n/t if i drive it hard. i always just drove it easy for a little while after and it went back to normal after driving a while. i just assumed that maybe everything was getting hot and expanding and once it cools it goes back to normal? does that make sense? or maybe its not bled right because if i pump the clutch in my car it does the same thing but it goes back to normal within a couple minutes

Yeah that makes sense. That's what my tech buddies at work said aswell. I let it sit over night and drove it this morning. Its back to normal. That's wierd how that happens. But I'm glad I didn't mess up the pressure plate. phew.

Cheap clutch masters (non OE) have a bad habbit of holding pressure if you let it out too fast (IE side stepping) and making the clutch slip and feel squishy. It takes hours for the pressure to bleed back to the resivior or you can crack a line open and bleed the pressure off that way. I ended up cutting a 1/2" out of my slave cyl. rod after adjusting the pedal all the way to eliminate the issue. You should only do this if the friction point it really high, almost all the way out.
