I have KYB AGX's with eibach sportlines, will i notice anything changing to the megan racing coilovers?:dsm:

The stiffer spring rates will increase steering response and alter how the car transfers it weight. It will also affect ride comfort. The Megans also give you more adjust ability (which can be a good or bad thing depending on setup).

+1

Why do you want to switch? Is it for a specific reason or are you just changing to change? I had the KYBs with my H&R springs and it sat and rode perfectly.

I want better handling,so the MR wont be better?

If you look at the Megan Racing website, the spring rates on their street coilovers for our cars are outrageous! 780lb/in for front, 550 lb/in for rear!

Also, according to theri website, you can't just witch the spring out. Their dampers will only accomodate a 111lb/in change from what comes on the dampers from teh factory.

Even if you did drop them down by the 100 lb/in, that's still stiffer than a good number of autoX drivers run.

If you switch from sportlines to the Megan racing, you'll find your car will lsoe practically all daily driver comfort and become a harsh ride suited for track only. Beware.

Handling in what sense? Better turn in, more feed back through the wheel, stability under braking? It's all a game of compromises.

Yes,better handling in the sense of better turn in, basically will I notice my car handling better if i switch to the MR?

I noticed that you have sways on your wish list. The reason I mention that is the MRs will give you a better initial turn in, but at the cost of comfort. Spring rates are more of a course adjustment, while sways are more fine tuning. Comfort of course is a personal value, but a nice set of sways will also change how the car 'feels' mid corner without sacrificing the comfort. They helped a little on turn in and made the car very neutral.

If my car was a street car, I'd be back to H&Rs and Koni's in a heart beat. I loved that 'compromise' it offered and felt completely adaptable to any arena. Stupid 255s didn't fit. I blame those.

If you like a stiff feel when cornering, without the "bumpy" feel of stiff KYB's, then you should try Koni Yellow sports.

They have a relatively low High Speed Compression (HSC) (as you would experience in a quick bump at speed) damping rate, but you can adjust for a high Low Speed Rebound rate (without rasing the HSC rate too).

I have my kyb on the stiffest, so its very bumpy....

Bumpy could be due to too much rebound dampening. This is where the shock is not letting the piston reset quick enough and you get a 'jack hammering' effect. Try zeroing them out and then start from there.

Now if it's Bouncy, then it's probably due to lack of dampening (or bad shock/strut). But my experience with KYBs and Eibachs don't support the need for Konis.
