I have a question for people who have installed these shocks on their car and was wondering if anyone else had this issue. I checked the part numbers on the box and these are the correct shocks for my car.

I am in the middle of installing my koni shocks on the front of my 1990 talon. I have been following the vfaq instructions but I have run into a problem.

So far I have taken the stock shocks off the car and removed the springs. I separated the stock struts by cutting them off right above the weld like the vfaq says.

However when I intall the koni cartridge into the stock strut housing it doesn't reach the top of the housing where you bolt the strut to the housing. After I cut the stock struts apart, there is a lip there where the bumps on the koni cartridge will make contact. This lip prevents the koni cartridge from being inserted all the way into the shock, and there is about a one inch gap on the top when I put mine together. The bolts that came with the kit won't reach down enough to secure them together.

The vfaq says that the koni insert should reach the top of the strut housing but mine won't go that far. I'm guessing that I can either get longer bolts to connect them or I can cut the stock housing down an inch or so to get the konis to reach the back. I am just worried that if I cut them down it will affect the suspension somehow because it will be shorter than it is supposed to be.

Basically I am wondering if anyone else had this issue, and how they got around it. Maybe I have the wrong parts somehow? Thanks.
