I'm getting 6 degrees of advance around 6k rpms with a knock count of 30 at 99.6% tps . Then, its dropping off to 0 knock and 26 degrees advance as soon as I left off throttle. This pull was also at 6k at the top of third in an automatic FWD. My knock count is seeming to stay around 18-25 with around 5 degree advance through all other gears at WOT. My car is pretty much stock, as far as I know, with only some ebay BOV, prothane mounts and no muffler because it had a very very restrictive one on it when i purchased the car. I recently replaced the knock sensor and kept getting a check engine light for knock sensor even at idle so I used this method to get rid of the cel and retard:

"What I did was instead of taking the red wire and running it to pin 9, and the black/white wire to a ground, I took the red wire and the black/white wire soldered them together, then ran both as one single wire to pin 9. Cranked 'er up, no more CEL. No bad for guessing."

The knock is still registering so its not faulty and i only run 91 in the car. Any ideas?

The CEL is only thrown because the KS ckt in the ECU is bad, will register knock at idle though if that's the case, the KS is bad, or the wiring is cut between the ECU and KS itself. Curious though, you're certain its a 1g KS?

Have you checked your base timing using a light, ground the timing connector, and moving the CAS so its at 5* BTDC?

Do you have anyway of controlling timing advance?

I havent checked timing with a light at all yet. Im sure its a 1g KS i bought one and pulled one from another 1g to verify this. I get no knock at idle anymore after I did that little "trick" but i also didnt have a logger at the time, only noticed the power and noticed no more cel or code. I did have a led wired into the obd port to flash the codes constantly so i knew of issues even before cel came up. Now, it seems to be running fine and no audible knocks or ticks , other than lifter tick after idling for a bit. Could the KS be picking up lifter tick under load and registering it as knock but disappearing upon deceleration?

You do have a way to control timing advance, its your CAS. My recommendation is to undo whatever the hell trick you read from somewhere, that fix sounds like its not fixing the problem just band-aiding it. Then check base timing with a timing light, make sure its at 5* BTDC.

An old school method of advancing timing (not recommend) was by rotating the CAS, this advanced base timing too but it worked.
