I have 2nd gen eclipse with the 4g63t engine. I'm puting an aftermarket computer on it. What is the stock timing total advance? I know the base is 5 degrees btdc but I need the total advance too and at what rpm it reaches full advance. Aslo is it linear.

Thanks

Your timing advance is based on your RPM, load, and knock count. Ideally your timing should be a smooth upward swinging curve with no dips (indicating knock). A good curve will start around 10deg and smoothly go up to around 19ish (depending on car/tune/etc).

You are correct, base timing is 5*, but on a stock 2g it is all computer controlled so you don't have to worry about it.

Also your timing curve will level out whenever your powerband starts to run about, depending on the mods, like my car, starts to die out around 6800 and flatens out at about 7200. It varies from car to car though.

Im getting rid of the stock computer and using a totally different one to run the car and I was looking for what the factory total advance is. I will work on the curve. Does it really only run 19 degrees at full advance
