Ok since my past few posts I have quit posting till I performed some work and repairs on my car.

I have replaced the water pump, timing belt, removed the balance shaft, removed the power steering belt, and ac belt, I have replaced my front o2 sensor, and replaced every single friggn seal on the way there and back.

Here is a log after replacing all of that of my normal driving in Roanoke, VA (where there are alot of hills) ( http://away.homeip.net/dsmpics/roanoke.dat )

I want to know what is causing this knock now? Before then, it was the fact that my front o2 "was on it's last leg"

Also I still cannot tell the difference between the bad o2 and good o2 by the 2 logs.

You have to do that after each timing belt change? You do that with the light gun right?
My timing according to dsmlink w/ my key in on pos but car not turned over is 5deg. its 8.4-11deg at idle of 750-850rpm.
 
Yes, you should AT THE VERY LEAST check the timing after you've done anything that has to do with timing (timing belt, cams, etc.)
 
Did'nt think you can SET BASE timing on 2gens.............dunno
 
yea my crankshaft was off like a whole tooth on belt.. and so my timing was way off after installing new one. It was like -5 or 10 probably, could barely see it it was so far back.
Before setting my timing when i first got car. i had crazy knock at part throttle. After setting timing most of it went away(3g lifters cured the little that was left)

I agree, we tried using a light gun like the 3rd day I had my car to see if we could and we had no luck cuz so much crap was in the way, but now theres only 1 belt in the way (Alt belt) so who knows?

BTW yea my car shows up hella more knock than it did b4 the timing belt change. I did a run tonight goin from 20mph-101mph and the whole time from 3k rpm to 5.5krpm (highest I went) it showed at least 1deg of knock and around 90mph+ I felt the knock make me lose power :( From the beginning of it starting the knock my timing dropped from 30deg to 10deg-15deg almost instantly.

Lee think you possibly might have set the timing belt and when the new tensioner finally set, it might have taken the belt off timing by a tooth, or something?
 
Know whats funny? Since I've gotten back to the beach, my knock problems have disappeared. I think elevation has a BIG effect in performance w/ DSMLink :barf:
