I figure it's about time I start updating the blog on this site about my current winter build status.

Here's the setup so far:

Head:
Comp 10200 intake and exhaust cams
Evo 8 valve springs and retainers
New valve stem seals
Revised lifters
New camshaft seals
Repaint the valve cover. I'm tired of that bright blue.
Gates Racing timing belt
STM SS valve cover bolt kit
Alum. manifold and o2 heat shields

Transmission:
Translab shift kit
New filter
Mitsu Diamond SPIII fluid
Line pressure controller *
STM Transmission cooler kit

Electronics:
GM 3 Bar MAP
GM IAT sensor
Full SD on Evo 8 ECU
Gauges all rewired (WB now working)
New oil pressure sender remotely mounted with -3an SS line
ECU controlled electronic boost control

Handling:
Front and rear Megan Racing strut bars
Evo 8 Enkei 17"x8" rims wrapped in 245/40/17 Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1's

At this point, I've bought most of it. The only things left to get are the tires. :D

*The transmission line pressure controller is something I've recently designed. It should let me increase the line pressure when on the throttle, while retaining the stock pressure when off the throttle. We'll see if it works as planned once it's installed.

So I guess it's time for some pictures...

This is the current state of the car (+18" snow). Rockin' its 95 Talon 16" wheels spray painted with a can of black metal flake Rustoleum. They're just the winter wheels wrapped in Dunlop Winter Sport M2's. The stock white didn't look good.

This is the current state of the engine bay. I need to look into getting a new UICP made.

The cams. They're used, and I'm not sure if they're Comp 101200's or FP2's. Either way, they're practically the same.

Oil pressure sender line.

This is that transmission line pressure controller I designed. It's pretty simple to control. Once I figure out just how sensitive it is to changes, I'll redesign it to be even easier to control. I may have to make a few to sell if it works.

I bought these wheels off this car. I should have them next week.

Most of these parts will be going on my car when I'm on spring break (March 3-8th). That will be a fun week. :D I'll probably do nightly posts then.

Sick car and greetings from probably the only person on this site that knows where knoch is, I used to deliver for Vocelli's up in Sarver, still know a bunch ofpeople in the sarver/saxonburg area. Good to see someone has a decent car up there.

Good stuff man. are those EVO wheels?

Looks good Wes, the car is really coming along. Those wheels and tires will feel awesome on there.

I need cams in the worst way. (Maybe after I switch to SD, and finish my suspension build, and...)

I'm rocking white 95 Talon wheels on my black 96 Talon. haha ...It's an interesting look, but they are in too good of shape to repaint.

Im digging the black enkeis. We did that to my friends evo and it really set it off. Also, that engine bay looks cleaner from the last time i saw it at the meet.

I was born and raised in the Saxonburg/Sarver area. I went to Knoch and played hockey. I wasn't too good with puck skills, but I could check; hence the "goon" nickname I had from teammates. Knochgoon has stuck with me as an online alias ever since. I've tried straying away from it a few times but it never lasts.

They are indeed Evo 8 Enkeis. The guy I bought them from just had them acid dipped, sand blasted, and repainted. It cost him $300 for the whole job on them. He sold them to me for $300. They have less than 700 miles on them since being painted. He wanted different wheels and just wanted rid of them quick.

The engine bay is a bit cleaner. Lets see. Since last summer's Aug 8th meet, I've done a little bit of work on it, but not too much. I've had classes. I took some parts off and resprayed them since then. I've also added the new plug wires and the strut bar. Other than that, it's pretty much the same engine bay. It needs cleaned again. The salt off the roads has everything grimy.

EDIT: I remember what else I've done. I've also removed the passenger side rad fan and installed a huge pusher fan in front of the a/c condenser instead. It's an OEM one I plucked off some junkyard car for $20. The thing moves a TON of air (it's a bit loud). I had to trim the shroud to get it to fit it's that tight. I can't fit a fan any bigger than this one inside the radiator supports. That really helped clean up the engine bay. It actually runs cooler with that fan than it did with the OEM puller one.
