Hello

I’ve been trying to program my keyless entry and have followed all of the steps but can’t get it to into programming mode. The car essentially has been pieced together so I’m not sure if I’m missing something.

- I have the keyless unit on the drivers side behind the backseat trim. It doesn’t have a switch in it for programming
- the car has power locks
- I have two different key fobs neither work
- I’ve done the steps on putting the key in and jumping the pins at the obd port but can’t get it to go into program mode

Thank you

Do the power locks work on both doors? Do the dome lights work ?

Good questions for him to test. If the door switches power cycle the locks, he’ll know the fuse and the under dash relay are both working.

Drivers side power door lock works and I can hear it activating the passenger side but that one doesn’t work. Wondering if side is potentially burned out. Drivers side also seems to be very slow.

Dome light I’m not sure yet since I haven’t installed it back in the car. I can check the connection with a test light.

There is a tilt sensor that can pop off of the back of the key cylinder in the door, or just be misaligned

The key cylinder sensor locks or unlocks the door based on the key cylinder location.

If the power locks dont fully function it wont let you program the key

My early 96 also doesnt have a switch on the module, I believe only really early 95 models had a switch behind the drivers side rear panel, and nearly all 95-99 cars need to be programmed with the obd connector jumped

Is there a way to know when it’s on properly? I can take a look when I get the car back (currently at the tuners)

The sensor has "ears" that attach it to the back of the key cylinder and keep it centered on the cylinder.

You can simply unplug the sensor if you dont want to mess with it. The harness is behind the door panel. The sensor detects angle of the cylinder; when you unlock the passengers door with a key it detects it and unlocks the drivers door.

I would first try to manually lock and unlock the door to make sure there isn't another problem with the rod mechanism binding
