Just wanted to see what you guys thought about the keydriver chips from dsmchips.com .
Good or bad

Hey man dsmchips is a good alternative to dsmlink ...if your a person that's not good at tuning or is a beginner at tuning it makes ## life easy... i have a stage 3 chip and ecu i got from jeff and it works amazing...jeff is a great person he helps you all the way ...i just upgraded to 680cc injectors and i emailed him to say i need a upgrade and i had the new chip in 5 days and im in Canada the price is also very good ...i payed $400 usd for my whole package ...trust me you wont be disapointed with dsmchips...:D:thumb::thumb: :talon::talon:

If you're new to tuning or somewhat less than confident in your ability to tune, going with one of Jeff's chips is a great cheap alternative. He recommends using a SAFC for fine tuning, but many guys just run the chip and use an AFPR to dial in the tune by adjusting fuel pressure slightly.

I don't understand why so many people still get the name confused. It's keydiver not keydriver. His website even says keydiver, as in going scuba diving off the Florida coast in the Keys. I believe it was a tag he used on a forum at one point and he just carried it over to his business so that other members would know who he was.

Hmmmm...

Hey man ...hell yeah i see more horsepower these are my options on my chip to give you an idea of what you can do to improve the car....
7800 rpm rev limit
5500 rpm stutter box
resets to4500 on cold start-up
no fuel cut
octane reset
2x karman(this means the airflow hertz the ecu see is cut in half to logg up to 3200hz)
boost gauge coverted to knock sum gauge
enhanced close-loop maps(so you can cruise at 80mph and above you can save some fuel)
680cc injectors/288uS deadtime
1g mas or MAF-Translator(i have a MAF-T for fine tuning)
900rpm idle
30% expanded maps
no airflow cap
43 psi AFPR
11:1 wot A/F
94 octane timming maps with 18 deg Advance on top map(this is because in canada we get 94 octane at the pumps)

thats the break down of the chip i have so it gives you an idea of how you can option your chip....hope this helps...:D:thumb::thumb::talon::talon:

Very much worth it. It's plug and play, and even without an SAFC the chip is dialed in pretty well. I have a Stage 3 chip with all the goodies, and as an added bonus, it's a dual image chip too, so I can run two different fuels and still be set up correctly for them. I'm set up for 91oct and e85, and change between the two images with the flip of a switch. I do use an SAFC for small corrections, generally less than 5% though, cause I'm a perfectionist. I will also say that it's a good idea to have a wideband and a logger when doing any tuning, and using one of his chips is no exception.

Did you guys running the stage 3 see a big improvement in hp or 1/4 mile time?

Compared to what? You could have a chip burned for a stock setup, and make a little more horsepower. The chip is typically used to compensate for "hardware" changes you make to the car, most likely larger injectors. And those are usually installed to allow you to increase boost pressure. Which would make you more power. So there's not really a straightforward answer.

I went from using an SAFC to compensate for 550cc injectors, to the chip which now controls 950's. If I had gotten a chip for the 550's, then I would have made a bit more power than I did with the SAFC, as the chip also can tailor the timing map to your setup. Using an afc throws off the timing, so less power is generally made with one of those used by itself. That's not to say that I wasn't really happy with my SAFC-only setup, cause I was. I just wanted more power eventually.

thanks guys ill probably pick up a stage 3 and some bigger injectors if you look at my mods on my page you can see what I'm running but I'm in the middle of porting my o2 housing and manifold and 14b turbo what size injectors would be good for what i have done? i was thinking about 480 or 550

Your still running the stock turbo. But if you wanted to get a chip id say 550's, you really dont need to go any bigger then stock 450's. safely. You might be able to get a chip burned for your stock 450's just so you wouldn't have to spend it on the bigger injectors, unless you wanted to run higher boost safely. Have you thought about porting your 14b too?

they charge $20 for reflash. The 450cc should be good for at least 17psi with the 14b. The stock a/f ratio goes as low as 9.3:1. I would suggesting having it modified to 10.5-11:1 and this will give you some power as well as give some free space to the injectors. I would recommend just getting big injectors(750+) as the chip will compensate for them and they will act like stock but have the extra fuel available. I would probably upgrade the turbo and injectors at same time. obviously youll want a logger if you dont have one

I will be buying my stage 3 chip here shortly. i read nothing but good about it, and I have been emailing Jeff and he's been very helpful!

Jeff is very helpful. You can do custom timing, fuel, alot of stuff. Hes also done a million of these so can come up with good maps if you let him know your setup

This is stuff you can do yourself as well if you do some reading/research. Heres some of the basic code changes is hex obivously
First Generation DSM EPROM Editing
The rest of info is in the dsmecu yahoo forums.
I once knew absolutely nothing about hex code and with some reading online i began to learn. You can use tunerpro to edit your fuel injectors, timing, fuel and some others as well. Its actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Chip burners range from $30-100+ and chips are like $5-10

im really not computer savvy, and at first the hex code was extremely intimidating, but its actually quite simple to do the editing. there is so much good info in the yahoo forums.
You can also get the Ostrich emulator for real time live editing in the car

also check out www.ds-map.net for full speed density conversion and the base software is free. Ive been using the speed density files in the yahoo forums with good success

Just my .02 but I'd jump past the chip and go straight to DS-MAP if I were you. I went chip first, then SAFC and wasted $200 instead of just going for the best right away. My speed density setup cost around $400-500 with native wideband O2 use included in the price. Now I can program my car for any changes whenever I want and I have a useless eprom chip and SAFC lying around my garage.
