Yep, I just bought i used portfueler off a DOHC neon. Now it looks like the mounting bracket is a little different but the bolt pattern and the runners appear to be the same so it shouldn't be hard to make it fit.

It only has 1700 miles on it, And comes with everything plus the tuning software.

Any tips?

Anybody familiar with the split second tuning software?

Any last but not least, How much boost do you guys think is safe on stock timing? I have always heard 15psi. Correct?

I hope to have this baby installed and tuned in the next couple weeks! :rocks:

It depends more on what turbo you are running and how rich you run your afr's.
If you let us know what turbo you have, or better yet if you have a compressor map handy (so we don't have to search for one) that would help us diagnose a much better estimate.

The 420a has a knock sensor that pulls timing whenever it senses knock. This is why we can run more boost before retarding ignition timing, (because the ecu does it for us... kinda). But, knock actually has to happen before the ecu will pull timing, and that is the problem. Ask 1slow97 about his experience with portfueler, and stock timing; it will make you much more cautious.

It's cause the intake is on the front of the engine on a neon. It should still bolt up and work right but I think the max boost they support is like 25psi or so. What size secondart injectors did it come with?

I think its 28 psi, But i dont care, I will never run that much anyway.

The secondary's are 500cc's, And so far i see only one difference, Il find some pics to show you.

We dont have that part on the dsm 420a mounting plate, But everything else is the same. Same bolt pattern and runner etc.

So im thinking im may just line the plate up to the mani, Mark it and cut that part off to basically make it into the dsm plate

This is the dsm plate,

I have a s20g. And im thinking i will tune for about 11.5afr.

Everything is listed in my profile...

Sorry, I always forget to check profiles for mods.
When I get home I will check into it a little for you.

In the meantime here is some info for you.

On my car with 15 psi and 93octane, i was getting metal specks on my plugs as well as hearing knock through "det-cans". That was with a 11.5 afr as well. I had to go down to 12psi before knock was gone. That is why I said to hell with pump gas and learned to love race fuel.

i ran 20 psi on 94 on the stock ignition and melted my pistons, i never heard knocking. I figured it would be safer since the knock sensor is attached. guess not ;)

I was reading a thread from earlier this year, and I saw that you said you havent pulled any timing?
Have you check with det cans or anything make make sure your not getting any knock?
I just dont think its possible that your boosting 20psi with stock timing and your not getting any knock.
And if it is possible I want to know how.
I getting very curious about all this and it hasnt been talked about too much.

I wish, i made me a set of dent cans....Knock took my motor out.
Ahhh, I see. Well that sucks man, sorry. Im just boosting and will be getting Msns to prevent just that.

Yeah i'm going with Msns, This time around going to build it bigger and better.... hopeing for 500hp for the shootout next year..

I just don't want to see you toast your motor. When tuning with 11.5:1 afr you can only get to a certian point without retarding ignition timing.
Crab switched to race gas so he could keep his boost levels up and run an 11.5:1 afr.
You can even richen the mixture more which will cause the mixture to burn slower and less violently. Which in turn will lessen peak cylinder pressure.
But your better off pulling timing; you will make more power pulling timing then richening the afr.
If I were in your shoes I wouldn't run more then 12-14psi.

That section is for the nenon cooling system. If you look at the neon motor it has a hook up for the water pipe right off the manifold that's what that's for. I almost bought a ITB setup off ebay for my 420a and it had that part and the pipe along with it. Tuning wise you always have to get her on a dyno or on the street and tune you can never judge a tune from someone else's car on what your car will or won't do even with the same exact parts because every engine is different. Good luck though I know your car is ready for some good boost :thumb:

I will probably run a meth injection to help keep the knock down, I just want to get to about 280-300hp and stay there for awhile, Until i get some driving in (remember im not even 16 yet), Then i plan to get a MSD DIS 2 and go crazy :rocks:

Well it fit, I didnt even have to cut that piece off, Its hidden behind the head and dont hit nothing so im not worried about it. It would be done but i forgot to get gaskets so it will be tomorrow
