jumped time???

my 92 laser ran fine one when i parked it,the next morning i heard ticking coming from the head and it has no power.my car has a 2.o non turbo.the noise started the scond i started it.do you guys think it jumped time somehow when i shut it off?

How's the timing belt? Have you physically inspected it to see if it is loose? How about your cam gears? Anything that is out of the norm, as far as visually?

Well, my car just jumped timing. Only one tooth though. When you were driving has the car just out of nowhere just shut off without any noise? Hopefully you didn't. Your best bet is to either check the alignment or take it somewhere and have them check it.

well ,no it never messed up b4.when i flip the belt inside out .right beside teeth are a bunch of cracks though.

Lost power and ticking? A couple of thoughts. Either a collapsed lifter or you dropped a rocker arm. Pull the valve cover and confirm.

Timing belts most often strip when starting, stopping, or idling. It's when the camshafts most resist moving.

If you pull the timing belt cover and put you engine at tdc your timing mark on the front camgear should be at the 3 o'clock position and the rear camgear should be at the 9 o'clock position and the pins that align the cam gears should be at the 12 o'clock position... if thats how it is/was then it didnt jump time... if it did jump time and didnt mess any enternals up i would recommend a new timing belt and timing belt tensioner
